And I get the feeling there won't be a clear answer to this for some time. EA likely wouldn't approve of the reason, be it petty or not, getting out.
Not too sure if it's really a bad thing though, because recently a lot of the games were made with them only acting as producers or "assistant directors". So it's not that big of a loss to Bioware as some might think.
The biggest bit of that story was the use of the Frostbite engine for DA 3.
So, in before the inevitable, "Dragon Age 3 is Battlefield 3 without Guns", 
The sites I frequent said they're leaving the industry, not just BioWare.

This will lead to inevitable breakdowns in this thread due to "Bioware is dead", However shit just got real
The Co-Founders of Bioware Greg Zeschuk and Ray Muzyka are leaving Bioware due to unspecified reasons, This is a serious blow to both Bioware and EA, I earnestly hope they recover although at this point statistics seem slim.
