There should be an actual story arc that ends with Aku's death.

[up] Well, there is such a story, but it is not emphasised as much as the world of the series.

That's the overarching goal of the series but Jack never really makes any visible progress towards it. I'd prefer if they actually had a definite stopping point in mind.

I agree. The lack of progression was the old series' biggest handicap. Episodic storytelling is fine, of course, but I feel that when you set the hero up for such a specific goal, having him never get any closer to it is dispiriting and kinda frustrating.

fans have been clamoring for an ending for years. there was talk of genndy wanting to produce a movie to conclude the series.

i'm not sure how episodic this is going to be, but I WOULD expect some kinda progress.

At the same time they probably want to get more than one season out of this. Especially if it does well. I could see them doing two or three thirteen episode seasons. Each of these would have an overarching plot although there might be a few standalone episodes.

The comics showed the ending... kind of, anyway. I know some people didn't like it, but I did. We all know how it ends (Jack grows a beard, gets a crown and an army, and can then use the time portal), the writers just showed us the beginning of the end instead of the final battle.

Actually, Genndy wanted this to be a mini-series, so I imagine only one season.

Well, I think Aku's actual defeat won't be too far away because that storyline doesn't have anywhere else to go at this point. There was that episode where Jack learns to "jump good" and attacks Aku, but apparently that didn't work. Not even their "final showdown" was the "final showdown".

I haven't read the comics, but I wonder if the show will be in continuity with them.

essentially, there is no point to making this series if it's just gonna be more of the same but Darkerand Edgier. i'm fairly sure that it's going to conclude the storyline from the original show with an actual ending.

I'm sure that they will find the perfect balance to ensure that the show has some violence but nothing overly extreme or mindless.

If it's a miniseries then it will probably just show how Jack finally defeats Aku and returns home. I wonder what version of time travel they'll use. Do you think the future will exist as an alternate timeline or will Jack have to rewrite history?

That's a good question. Jack will probably have to rewrite history to ensure that aku never took power.

well, the opening narration mentions "undo the future that is Aku", which implies that the future would be rewritten.

I don't think the show is dark enough to do that though. Heck, if you sat Jack down and explained to him that doing this would erase all his friends from existence he probably wouldn't do it.

[up][up][up][up][up]

You seem too pessimistic. You make it seem that Genndy might not have any new or creative ideas, when he had new ones to tell for the last 12 years (he told most of the standalone stories in the 4 seasons and wanted the fifth one to be the last, but then CN cancelled it).

[up]

Well, that might have been the CN days, but now with [as], it might very well happen. Why would it not be? If they do not exist, then they would not be able to complain. Also, as a side-note, Jack is most likely a believer in reincarnation, so he would find his own justification in this, and believe that he might very well meet the people he encountered (that weren't aliens) either in the future or sooner in his own lifetime.

@46: Unexpected. Very unexpected.

Bucket list:

  • Get a live-action Avengers film.
  • Hit it off with a Brazillian supermodel.
  • Revive Samurai Jack.
  • Revive Big O.
  • Revive ReBoot.

John K claimed he was "forced" to do for Ren and Stimpy when it got revived.

"Forced"? Wait, is there a possibility that John K went all out with the Ren and Stimpy revival by choice?!

It was a progenitor to Family Guy. Start off with mild Cringe Comedy for it until it gets cancelled, then after it was uncancelled go all out with trashy humor, terrible characters and plots, and making the characters be your mouthpiece for your political views.

It's a link to the person who posted the "Jack is Back" video, I assume it's not appearing? Weird. The page was already 6 pages ahead of it so I didn't want to repost it.

[up][up][up] I really doubt that Samurai Jack will simply become yet another clone of the shows currently on Adult Swim.

About Samurai jack...yeah, the show have way to much freedom in being episode, I meant it have 52 chapters, that is more than Avatar(I think) or even digimon.

on the other hand, the show did have continuity, with the scottman or adressing that yes, jack remenber all the people he helps, so if this is just a mini-series they could uses all those chararters as call backs.

This guy was one of the very few that managed to mess Jack's shit up in a fair fight.

It will be very interesting to see how they continue this series. This is one of the most blue-balling episodes in an animated series ever written.
