Just a Face and a Caption: Wildcard Excuse

I do not know who's the person the one doing the wild card excuse is, as I'm not familiar with the work.

I have no idea what's going on in the image; it mentions the existence of the trope but doesn't actually show it. Also, yeah, JAFAAC even if the caption is in the speech bubble.

Motion to pull.

It mentions and uses the trope. Not JAFAAC. The wildcard excuse in this case is "because of his excessive gaming". I saw this picture before I read the manga in question, and I didn't have trouble understanding it.

It also doesn't harm the trope, so I say Keep Until Better Image Suggested.

Two previous threads didn't come up with anything better, so I'm gonna go with Keep Until Better Image Suggested.

Of course it's supposed to be read from right to left!

And other pages containing manga usually also have it like that, so I'd recommend one to not modify it.

I don't think the left bubble is important to the trope anyway.

I couldn't make heads or tails of it left-to-right OR right-to-left. As such, I say it's a bad image because it doesn't have the setup for the wildcard excuse. Ideally, you shouldn't have to point out what the example is in the image.

On the other hand, this is a purely dialogue trope, so I think only a montage from a single work would be worth having an image at all.

I don't get it. It's pointing to a speech bubble and telling us it's a "wildcard excuse", but that still doesn't tell us what that means.

Okay, so given the disagreement here, and the fact that the previous two threads just stalled out with no clear conclusion, I think we should crowner this.

That is not true. Manga is often flipped. The only time it's not, intentionally, is when that wouldn't matter.

Maybe adding two panels of the manga showing this excuse used in different situations?" Agree.

I was talking about TV tropes pages.

Besides, I know that manga can be flipped for an english, but some don't.

I didn't know that it's done often.

I think Rodney was also talking about the site, but even if he wasn't, it applies- manga here is often (though not always) flipped.

Anyway, I'm strongly against the image staying up (at least on its own), for the same reason he cited in .

I agree that the image should be taken down. It really isn't helping, for the reasons stated.

If the image is going to stay up, it should be swapped for the flipped version. English reads left to right, and we should not expect our readers to know that manga reads right to left.

I would say toss in the flipped one, but Keep Until Better Image Suggested.

I say pull. It's a bad image that is adding nothing to the page. I think this one may have to be imageless, I can't think of a way to picture it.
