Note: Using the latest versions of Firefox and Flash on a Windows 7 laptop that has all its latest updates. I checked on IE and Chrome, and videos worked fine for me on them. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Flash, as well as opening and closing my browser several times, to no avail. For some reason, though, embedded videos work fine.

So, for the past week I've noticed that when I try to watch videos on You Tube, some of them just come up as a black box, with no video or audio whatsoever. Hell, the player doesn't even show up—just a black box where the player should be. It started out as a problem for only a few videos, and I'd found a more-complicated-than-necessary workaround when that was the case, but now just no videos are playing at all for me. This happening to anyone else, or does anyone know what could help?

Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.

Uh, I can't say I have this problem, but I remember there was a thing a while back where Youtube silently put some proportion of their users into beta testing for some new player. You might see if that's still a thing and try opting out of it if it is.

The HTML 5 player? I disabled HTML 5 in Firefox because those videos that used it were laggy. Disabling it forced them to use the Flash player.

Alright, that's not it... There was another glitch where Firefox decided that players that took more than like two seconds to load were frozen and needed to be terminated, but since you aren't getting any error messages about that I don't think that'd be your problem.

Something like that happened for me a while ago, but it didn't really cause problems for me since I could just reload the page to fix that.

It works for me on 15.0 and 15.0.1. Nowadays I rarely watch videos on Firefox though.

Firefox barely works with flash at this point and Chrome only sorta works (in that it doesn't crash every 5 seconds with flash).
