"Thank you, but...why are you here? And who are these people? Where they involved with that mutant terrorism earlier?"

The speedster notably didn't struggle at all. The metallic guy was trying his best to stand, but every time he did his inner ear betrayed him and he couldn't walk to steps before falling down again.

"Work, bad guys, and you still talk too much." John said as he tossed the speedster over his shoulder and began to move out of the camp. "I suggest you make yourself scarce." With that, John picked up speed and began to run out of the campsite.

Cops arrived after a few seconds, before John could get out of there unseen "Everybody hands up!" They heard one yell.

Several of the few members of the gang that were left disappeared with Keira on her fourth or fifth reappearance, and all the cops saw was one man with metallic skin on the ground, one man carrying another on his shoulder, and some bug-like teenager standing in the middle of it all.

"What is going on here?" One of the cops asked. Within seconds the whole group was surrounded by policemen and their weapons.

"Oh not much ; I'm just taking my friend here for a little walk through the woods; he doesn't get out as much as he should." John said with a grin.

"With a customary bag over his head and a weapon drawn, of course" The cop said with a raised eyebrow. "We're gonna need you to come with us, sir"

"Yeah, that's going to be an issue." John said as he checked his watch "How about we all do the smart thing and walk away?"

"That would imply you leave the man in custody with us, mister" Another one of the cops said.

"Now, there's no reason why we can't talk this out, but I'm gonna have to ask you to drop the weapon" the first cop said.

"I'm going to holster this." John said, as he slowly put his handgun back in its holster. "Not I'm not the best detective in the world, but you.might want to worry about the dozens of mutant gangnangers running around these woods."

Two of the cops around them went off to look, though there were no more gang members in the area excepting the speedster, the concussed metallic-looking man, and Jack who was hiding somewhere.

"So while Jaime and Carson are out there searching, why don't you sit down over there and give me the story?" the cop said.

"Well I was taking a walk with my friend here. " John jostled the unconscious man "When we were attacked my these mutants, then they started shooting at us; no idea where they are right now, probably regrouping in the woods."

Before the cop could say anything, the speedster started moving and making noises "Mhhmm! Mhmhmmmhmmhhm! Mmhhm Hmm! Hmh! Hmmh Mhh!"

"And would you care to illustrate why he's bound and gagged? Or were you two just getting kinky?" The cop asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Hey, what two consenting adults choose to do in the middle if the woods is their own busniess last I checked; or are you just being intolerant towards people like us?" John said "Now if you don't mind, we've got to get back home."

Muffled screams came out of the speedster, who began kicking John with his non-wounded leg.

"Now why don't you sit that boy down, take off the bag, un-gag him, and we see if this was all just really a misunderstanding?" The cop asked nicely.

"Sure thing." John said as he readjusted his hold so that he was now holding the speedster up underneath the armpits. "Do you think you could give me a hand here? Just hold him up while I undo these restraints?"

"Or you could sit him down in that lovely tree trunk, and take your time doing it yourself. I'm in no hurry" The cop said, not moving, with a small smile that seemed to say something along the lines of "I'm onto you".

"That works too." With that, John gently lowered the speedster to the ground, and crouched down next to him. Pausing for a few seconds to collect himself, he stood up, and quickly kicked out; driving his foot into the cops stomach.

The cop was pushed backwards, and as that happened, John received two shots in the leg he'd used to stand and four shots in the chest from the other cops.

"Now why'd he have to do that for, hey?" The cop muttered as he came back to his feet and neared the speedster. Two other cops kept their guns on Nico.

"Because it was one of my nicer reactions." John said as he stood up and stretched his leg; smiling as the two slugs fell out. "So, how about we try this again?"

The cop, surprisingly enough, took John's survival of that shooting in stride. "Sure" He said, backing away from the speedster. "Take off that bag from your friend's head, Un-gag and untie him. Then we can all have a nice chat."

Deciding to try a different.approach, John took out his knife and.became.to.cut his.restraints.

The speedster trembled slightly as John cut through the restraints.

The cop just stood there, waiting for John to take the bag off the boy's head and un-gag him.

"Officers, I feel obliged to inform you that I only entered this situation unwillingly and am not with the highly suspicious guy over there."

Austin's phone rang, and he answered it. A moment later he stiffened, and listened intently.

"Yeah boss, I'm on it." He said quietly, and melted into the crowd, getting lost in the organized chaos.

Finishing with the restraints, John moved to remove the Hood, leaning closer as he undid the knots he quietly spoke to the man "I suggest you choose your words carefully; life is short enough as is."

With that, he removed the gag, and stepped away.
