Always make sure the file format actually matches the named extension. No exceptions.
(Current favicon doesn't show up on current versions of Firefox either.)
I know I can convert it easily, but I have no place to upload the result. :(

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.It shows up for me. Firefox 15.0.
Rhymes with "Protracted."It shows up for me on Firefox 15.0 and Chrome, but not IE.
Should be fixed now. You may have to reload the site to see the change.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyFor some reason, the favicon still doesn't show up after clearing the entire cache. Think it's its non-standard size? Pretty sure you need at least one 16x16 version of the favicon, which may or may not exist. What are the favicon's details?
EDIT: Opening it with Windows Photo Gallery, something's not quite right... 12 separate icons of what? Was it originally subtly animated? It might be a good idea to just extract one frame of the 16x16 favicon and save it as a completely new favicon file.

Don't worry too much about everything, all right?A single .ico file can contain a variety of differently sized/formatted images (for different display adapters) — 16x16 vs 32x32, 16/256/24-bit color, etc...

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.I know that, but I noticed something else entirely: there seems to be multiple identical icons in there.
EDIT: What about this file? Try uploading this one in.

Don't worry too much about everything, all right?Minor-but-possibly-relevant:
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" /> (If the HTML sanitizer messes it up, you know what the symbols are supposed to be, right? ( < and > )
It might be a lot of work if templates on the site have to be edited manually, but this tells all browsers where the favicon is located. With the above sample code, it'd mean that the favicon file is located at the root of the site, named favicon.ico. Would this be too much hassle to implement?
If so, I most certainly can live with it. Also, *wonders why the current ICO file is 16x14 instead of 16x16*

One of the things I've noticed while browsing TV Tropes with Internet Explorer 9 (don't shoot me for that, I don't use Chrome for a reason) is that the favicon does not show up in the tabs or favourites. So I decided to give the favicon file a look.
https://tvtropes.org/favicon.ico, huh? Funny thing, the image does show up, but as it turns out, the image is not a real ICO file, but a GIF file that is pretending to be an ICO file. Now I know why I got no favicons here. >.< Can someone overwrite that file with a real ICO?
