How to track down an old girlfriend

Without going into much detail, our hero loses his memories of the last three months. In that time, he and his girlfriend have broken up. He has to track her down, but I'm not sure how he'd go about it. This isn't the main focus of the story, just a small part of it.

Now I know the first comment is always "I need more details" but at this point, everything is mutable. If a certain profession or hobby would make the girlfriend easier to track down, I can add it in.

He could be a police officer. It could make it easier to track her down if, for example, she has some kind of connection to a case or something. I'm guessing the time period is modern day. If I'm wrong, correct me.

The details about the girlfriend are flexible, the plot sort of depends on the hero's job as a corporate VP (which he lost in the afore-mentioned three-month gap).

The time period is technically "the future" but close enough to present day that I can't technobabble my way out of the problem.

@Arsidias: He could call someone who knows her (If, for example, he knows some of her workmates really well.) or he could try to call or e-mail her himself. assuming that she wants to talk to/contact him.

Facebook and social media make it easy to track down people, even when they're careful. If he created a fake account using stock photos and managed to friend some of her preexisting friends he'd easily be able to see her page and some of her details. You could get a vague idea of her location and activities through status', tags, events and photos if it isn't explicitly stated in her user information, and it would be easy to chat up her friends or family members and manipulate them into telling him outright.

Worth noting, of course, that the more extreme his methods (and depending to some extent upon the terms on which they parted), the more likely it is that he won't come off well from the girlfriend's perspective. Depending on your intentions, this may or may not be a problem.

@Arsidias: I'm going to assume that the girlfriend has either left or doesn't want to be found:

You mention that your character was a corporate VP; meaning he probably has some money at his disposal. In which case, you could have him hire a private investigator to look for her; and have him work as hands-on or -off as you want to. This has the advantage of either allowing your character to be on-hand for as much of the search as you want or have all the boring legwork done off-screen by someone else, with the occasional update(s) from the investigator. Plus, PI's easily make for awesome, memorable characters; running the gamut from sleek, hi-tech professionals to drunk, bottom-dwelling ex-cops.

Otherwise, if you want a less extreme course of action, perhaps have the guy stalk one of her usual haunts, waiting for her to show up. Say, a favourite bar of hers or some such.

This makes me think of that one episode of Chuck where they use Jeff and Lester's stalker network to track down Sarah... Although I don't think that would work unless you were going for a comical tone.
