Fallen London: The writing is excellent, but the mechanics are very grindy. The definition of an acquired taste. It's free, though, so you lose nothing by trying it out.
Sunless Sea: Early game is very painful- you'll probably die and not having anything meaningful to show for your efforts the first few times. But it has the same writing quality with less annoying mechanics.
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."Disclaimer: There are a lot of good story branches locked behind fate.
It's a bit aggravating really because a lot of Fate Branches are a complete gamble.
Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans.Kinda sad that I wasn't able to get far with Sunless Sea myself, had to uninstall it and a few other things because the laptop is really starting to show its age.
I ended up getting tired of this after a couple of weeks. It's all a bit RNG and grindy. And, and I realise this is a bit daft, there's too much to do. I didn't know what I actually wanted to do or should do a lot of the time.
Well, I downloaded it. I'm not really in the mood to play it now (allergies giving you a headache don't really conduct themselves well to that kind of stuff) but I probably will tomorrow, once I'm off work.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.I heard this game has cats, so I had to join. It is an interesting item.
she her hers hOI!!! i'm tempeIndeed. I think that so far my favorite bit of the game was the rat siege of my house xD
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Does your location affect the likelihood of getting opportunities you can get get Counting the Days from? They seem to come up really rarely for me.
♭What.Sunless Skies announced. Man, I stopped playing FL (other than getting the weekly reward) because the non-sub content is way too slow (that, and playing Kancolle, World of Warships, and other games)...but this looks so damn cool. Still, with premise like this, there's SO MANY QUESTIONS. Why did the Traitor Empress lead her people to abandon London? Why are the stars dying, the Revolutionaries stepping up games or the Great Game goes hot? Sixth city? Does the Bazaar even matters anymore? TRAVELER RETURNING? Eaten's Name can finally be found in person and not just end at Avid Horizon? Dawn Machine successful activation? Can we visit Axile, Forge of Souls, and such?

Give me cute or give me...something?Help me I don't know what I'm doing and I keep gaining Scandal while I try to grind Persuasive
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableAlright, I'm into this. Feel free to hit me up.
We think there are a few reasons for this. In hindsight, we went into Early Access too early. The game wasn’t immediately ready for media attention, we lost a key promotional moment; people aren’t talking about the game as much as we’d hope.

I think I'll miss the current design a bit, but I'll be nice to have 5 cards on a single line without having to run a script to modify the page. (Currently it's 4-on-a-line, then you just have the last one plumped below them on its own and wasting a lot of screenspace.) I know a few people who got into the game through the mobile version, but it's removal does come with some relief; Failbetter have always seemed to struggle with properly managing it, and keeping it around has come at the cost of some social actions you used to be able to do.
Incidentally, it's currently the Feast of the Exceptional Rose, Fallen London's little take on Valentine's Day. If anyone wants to exchange gifts, go ahead and contact me. I have enough resources to handle any request for any specific (non-Fate) item, if you want one. Otherwise I have a practically infinite amount of teeth. Everyone loves a good jar of teeth, right?
My character's actually fairly far in the end-game now, so if anyone wants I can them give lessons on being Persuasive, for anyone whose main stats are still below 100. It can be a fairly big boost.

Eurogamer did an article about the state of the company, let's just say it's complicated.

The app will be removed from stores around today, and the servers will shut down in April.
- On 26th February, it'll be removed from the App Store and Google Play store
- On 23rd March we will remove the option to purchase anything within the app (ie. Fate, Exceptional Friendship etc.).
- And then finally on 25th April, the app will be fully retired and disconnected from our servers
Will the game still be online?
but HOW?The website game is definitely still going to continue, but the mobile app hasn't been popular enough to support further development, and they're not quite happy with how some of the decisions they made in building the app.

The app has some sync issues, especially with social actions, which they couldn't figure out a better fix for than to just disable the relevant actions entirely.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.Should I sell "A Headful of Picaresque Tales"?
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Yes. There's no particular use for it, it sells for a decent amount, and having one prevents you drawing the card to get another.
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."Considering how death works in London, what exactly happens when you're hanged?
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.I swear, that's alluded to somewhere off-hand but I can't find it. IIRC they're shipped off into exile later, with the hanging becoming more of a show of tradition. It is possible to permanently kill someone — I believe a guillotine would do it, for instance — but I don't think I've seen such a thing mentioned. Theoretically, it's possible that certain individuals are, ahem, disposed of, whether by lethal means or maybe being dumped into the zee.
EDIT: Pardons for nicking someone else's echo, but this is the results when getting the item for having Renown: Constables 40 (it's a pair of boots you find with the Boatman). It implies the Constables do have people who ensure some don't come back. (The item itself is called 'The Place Where they Bury the Bodies').

It's currently the Mayoral Election, 1896. Let your voice be heard! The mayor will get a special card for the rest of the year, and will probably be near the centre of a special Fate story at Christmas. The candidates:
- Mr. Slowcake: 'To Every Soul Its Station'. A mysterious man who's never been seen in public. His publications rank the most 'notable' citizens in the city; now he seeks to remove class as London's great equaliser, and reform it into a true meritocracy. Followed by a mixture of the poor and the rich... and constantly followed by a large contingent of helpful devils. Curious, that. Less curious, once you realise Slowcake is non-existent, an invention by the devils to help keep track of promising souls. Are they here to democratise us? Just what are they planning to do with all that voter data?
- The Captivating Princess. The Neath-born daughter of the Empress herself, here to transform London to 'a city to delight the eye, the ear, the appetite'. Beloved by Bohemians, and some elements of Society, for her scandalous, hedonistic lifestyle. And, perhaps some would argue, its naked sociopathy. A monster. They are all monsters. There are no metapho—
- The Jovial Contrarian. Beloved debater at various social gatherings, always willing to lend an ear and rationally argue for entirely different views. Here to take the baton for law and order! Funny, didn't he run on the opposite platform last time? Followed by Constables, pub-landlords, and the occasional confused anarchist. Leading member of the Revolutionaries — and yet frequently not an ally to others in their Council. What does he seek to achieve by wresting some control or weakening the tools of the Masters, the Constables? A London freer from their grasp? Some Revolutionary goal? He seems to have fallen out with his old friends, but perhaps not completely.
I'm voting for the Jovial Contrarian, friends. I can't dictate your positions, so may you consider them well — though you may find it wise to investigate whoever you initially support. You can change partway through, after all.

I dislike "Slowcake" and the Princess as people, but while I like the Contrarian I'm not fond of his platform this year. But I really, really dislike "Slowcake" and the Princess...

Yeah, I really love the writing in this studio's games, so that's why I've been debating buying Sunless and playing this.
