Man, that Sonic Boom playthrough was painful. I mean, I know Boom isn't a good game, but Arin is stupidly incompetent at it.
That Rust episode has to be the best Steam Train episode since Amazing World though. It's hilarious.
Arin isn't stupidly incompetent. It's just that this playthrough was ruined the minute someone told him, before he played it, that the game was AWFUL, because now he doesn't even care that he's doing anything wrong! He sees what he needs to do, but he avoids doing it because he doesn't care. Unless he genuinely DOESN'T notice what he has to do because the game is too stupid to tell him.

I think he's genuinely not noticing. He tends to ignore dialogue in most of the games they play, and Boom seems to only give instructions in one-time-only dialogues.
What matters in this life is much more than winning for ourselves. What really matters is helping others win, too. - F. Rogers. That and he legitimately forgot that Amy can triple jump. I thought it was a joke at first, but the more I see things, the more I'm positive.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.To be fair, it's not like he needs to know Amy can triple-jump, since Good Ol' Knucks can infini-jump.
"We're home, Chewie."But he's clearly not supposed to do that cheat.
...... it's that the game fails so much at explaining things to you, he feels he has no choice.
Nah, this isn't the game's fault since it explained it and he forgot. If it kept explaining, Arin would bitch about it holding his hand and he doesn't need to hear it.
The game is broken, but it should be criticized for it's legitimate faults, not for Arin being an idiot.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.If I may play raptor's advocate here, it really is difficult to focus both on the game (especially one you already know is crap and are less inclined to listen to) and being funny for an audience and whatever your co-host is saying at the time. And honestly, I doubt I'd be doing much better than Arin is even without those distractions, since the game itself is distractingly bad and its gameplay (at least the parts that aren't so bad it's good) is repetitive and dull.
"We're home, Chewie."I can understand that, though to be fair, it's the simplicity of a triple jump. Plus can you in all honesty not see Arin bitching about hand holding if the game told him at every instant?
On a more positive note, I absolutely love the Steam Train Rust gameplay.
Improving as an author, one video at a time. The games based on the Rankin-Bass stop-motion Christmas specials are both surprisingly hilarious.
I think Sonic Boom just needed some fine-tuning of the character banter as to when the advice is given. Why was Tails still pointing out the Bounce Pads, the most obvious mechanic in the game?
Holy Knurrt, they're back to Pokemon FireRed.
What matters in this life is much more than winning for ourselves. What really matters is helping others win, too. - F. Rogers. He really did forget about the triple jump... Ah well, least it didn't last long. My only fear was Arin would get stuck because he abused Knuckle's infinite jump for so long.

I don't know what Janeane Garofalo had to do with anything, but I'm pretty sure the first lyrics to the outdoor levels of Super Mario Bros 2 USA are "Janeane Garofalo is screwed this time!"
Now if only they knew the right way to gym leader Sabrina. Glad they returned to Fire Red. For some reason it amuses me to just see Arin fail so hard at playing Pokemon.
Also, bouncing back over to Sonic Boom real quick, loved the newest episode's opening!
Now just for the next episode of Dog Island and them to finally revisit Punch Out for the Wii...
Improving as an author, one video at a time."Why didn't you tell us Beedrill had your weakness, Sabrina? Why didn't you tell us we had a female Pokemon?!"
For a second there I actually thought Arin might outright challenge Articuno to a battle.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.I'm just wondering if they're gonna finish We Love Katamari.
For some reason it amuses me to just see Arin fail so hard at playing Pokemon.
The tiniest part of me is actually a bit disappointed that they finally beat Koga. :P
I do look forward to them getting to Cinnabar and Arin realizing he fucked up.

Arin's always guessing his characters' genders wrong, that's a great running joke
