This is old stuff, but I recommend listening to it.

It's such a shame they never made an extended vocal version of the song.

@ Meta Four, you know we seem to differ on opinion on that facet because the literal minded dubbing basically makes me feel like I'm getting dumber and made the characters feel a little bit blander because "Why discuss what's going on poor about each other when we can literally say every action were doing or mumble irritably."

No, I do not hate the series, I love the music, I love the singing, the show just isn't funny in a "ha ha" sort of way and only in a "occasional chuckle but this is very fascinating to examine" sort of way, and thus why I haven't stopped watching, though Lunar Slander did an excellent job of trying to force me away.

Yeah, Luna Slander is pretty cold. I did like Luna's sentence being just 1000 hours, however. I always thought that a whole millenium was an overkill, but that's a topic for another thread.

By the way, does anyone have any guesses on how Fluttershy ended up being the Cult of Smooze? Also, do you suppose he will ever show up?

I am not familiar with any previous generation of MLP so I don't even know what that thing is supposed to be.

It was my least favorite episode, but overall I thought it was okay.

From what I've heard, some people dislike:

  • Luna's accent/lisp/verbal tic.

  • The "Buy Some Apples" = [Buy Some Random Fruit/Vegetable] gag because it was severely overused.(Although I personally felt that Cherry Bomb redeemed it.)

  • The "Princess of the Night" song, either because of how short it was or because of Luna's voice.

  • Luna's characterization. Even some of those who liked it, felt that something better could have been done with Luna (although I'm interested in seeing how this will impact Nightmare Moon). The fact that we already have a fanatical Otaku (Twilight) doesn't help things.

  • Luna being Molestia. Also the title Molestia just being used for puns and having no impact on Luna's characterization. Personally I would have preferred for Cadence to be Molestia, but sadly Lunar Slander came out before she was introduced as a character.

  • EDIT: I forgot to mention Zecora, who came off exceptionally bland.

Also the fact that Lunar Slander came after Neigh, Soul Sister, the episode that most fans consider the best so far, probably didn't help matters.

For the record my favorite episode is Read it and Sleep.

My favorite is "Neigh Soul Sister," though.

Sweetie Bot is awesome.

I love Sweetie Bot as well (she's totally the show's Ensemble Dark Horse). My point was that the success of Neigh Soul Sister lead to high expectations that Lunar Slander couldn't match, making Lunar Slander's already lackluster results seem even shoddier in comparison.

By the way has everyone seen this?

I love the Ask-Sweetie Bot Tumblr. Its my third favorite Ask-Pony Tumblr after Ask-Bipolar Rarity and Ask-[Cr]Applejack

Wait what?

Subjective is subjective, but disliking FiW Zecora because she is bland is like disliking FiW Rainbow Dash because she's dumb.

That's the joke. If she were the same character, except not bland, she wouldn't have had any jokes, and would have been pointless.

I never really found the canon Zecora all that interesting to begin with so I am fine with her treatment. In fact, seeing her messing up her rhymes is even amusing.

I thought she was funny.

Indeed it was.

What do you know, there is actually a collection of FIW soundtrack. I really like Team D.E.S.U. montage soundtrack, which starts at 6:30.

I looked up "desu" after I saw that, but it said it is just Japanese for "to be."

Now I don't know that much about that stuff, so could you tell me what I'm missing here?

It's just a really basic Japanese word, so it's an easy shorthand to indicate Weeaboo-ness to your viewers.

OK, that makes sense I guess.

But why do they say just that, then? It doesn't mean much on its own.
