The Red Death was able to plow through the side of a mountain of rock, but no the this is the first case of a dragon actually sinking islands.
#IceBearForPresidentY'know, when Astrid states that no one will ever kiss her on the lips, it strikes me as a bit ironic, considering that she and Hiccup must do that frequently.
So Screaming Death hatches once per hundred years? I guess that DOES make it "alpha" Whispering Death or sorts.
Man, that Screaming Death is intimidating. In one episode it did more damage and presented more of a threat than Alvin has so far.
Is it just me, or is the theme of this season starting to seem like "Fishlegs is badass." Also, I swear Astrid suddenly acquired an accent when she said "I feel so much better."

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Technically saying, you could attribute Screaming Death's actions to Alvin since hes one who brought the eggs to berk
Plus, as I mentioned before, it makes good thematic sense for Alvin and the SD to team up, which I guess is when things start getting really messy.
What's precedent ever done for us?I'm amazed how they're always doing something smart at the beginnings of these episodes. I mean tracking the migration patterns of the dragons just blew my mind.
I also really like the idea that the screaming is still growing. I wonder if it is full grown now or if it will get even bigger by the time we see it next.
While I agree that tracking the Dragons flight patterns is a smart idea, there is no way that paint would last, especially if Dragons bathe, which I assume they do.
Also, if most of those dragons are territorial, why did they not bother fighting the Screaming Death on their own Home Island?
Could be that they were scattered and fearful of a much bigger dragon?
Given the dragons history with the Red Death, that's most likely it.
Hard to blame them.
, and Now See, I'd like to believe that, but there are two reasons why I can't:
1) The Dragons have united at least once to fight a common enemy (In the First Season Finale, all the Dragons came together to help save Hiccup from the Outcasts). In fact, the dragons where united to fight Humans back in the original Movie (Albeit, because a giant Dragon was forcing them to do so). Why do they need people to tell them "Hey, maybe if all of you join together, you could defeat or kill it" again and again? That sort of makes dragons look really stupid...
2) It doesn't matter how big or powerful something is, if an area of Territory owned by Territorial Creatures is invaded, those Creatures will try to kill it (And if they can't they will flee). Bears, Chimps and Wolves don't care if they gotta fight a Bear, a Wolf, a Chimp or a Human, they will attack it, especially if they feel threatened, which the Dragons should because The thing was destroying all their islands out of spite! Even the dragons did that (Defend their Territory) not only in the Movie, but when fighting the Outcasts in the First Season! So either Dragons aren't territorial or they're incredibly stupid, even for animals.
OK, how about this explanation: for the other islands, the Screaming Death never came above ground or water, therefore the other dragons had no idea what the frack was going on, only that their island was sinking. It came out to face Hiccup and the others because it had something of a grudge against them.
Either that or they just didn't have the numbers to fight it off, or the leadership.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I could see leadership playing a huge role in their victory. The dragon riders really got the dragons moving as an organized unit rather than all of them attacking at random.
About how long has it been since we last seen Torch? He seems to have grown up quickly.
Ain't it a bit late for them to be removing dragon traps?
#IceBearForPresidentBetter late than never. But yes, it's late.
I thought it was just a training exercise? Like, they put those traps in the forest to test the Dragons and their riders so that they know how to fight against any enemy with Dragon traps, because I assume most if not all Vikings have the same kind of traps.
Disabling the traps are the training exercise, but the traps themselves have been there since before they made peace with the dragons.
Basically, this episode was a kid-friendly lesson on deactivating landmines.
Yeah, that avatar's a 'Shop of my real face.I did like that the twins got a good deal of focus in this episode and that they managed to dig a little deeper into the two characters without altering their personalities in order to do it.
I'm also interested in seeing if the burn damage from the fire is going to be shown in future episodes.
The twins are pretty much my favourite characters in this show. But I have trouble believing forest fires are a thing in Scandinavia. Anyone know better?
Scandinavia is known for its massive pine forests. Pine trees are apocalyptically flammable - their resin has a habit of exploding, for one thing. You do the maths.
What's precedent ever done for us?
Is the Screaming Death the first island-busting dragon in this series?
DRAGON ARMADA!!!
