"Please." Atan held up a hand in amused bewilderment. "It's not as if I'm someone of note. If anything, I should be honoring you! You did save my life, after all. Thank you, Miss Yun. I'm Atan Aulanerk; It's a pleasure to meet you."
Looking down, he eyed her paper curiously once again. "You often write poetry?" It was only a half-question. He vividly remembered the many times he'd seen her scribbling in the previous year, mainly whenever he bothered to stay awake during History. It seemed nobody liked that class, not even the prim-and-proper types.

GM of AGOG S4: Frontiers RP; Sub-GM of TABA, SOTR, & UUA RPs"Think not of that," Zhao said, "I have only done what any sane person would have done, concerning my position and abilities." She smiled, a little embarrassed. "And yes, I often write poetry. It is a fine art not at high regard amongst our generation... and that's less than good."
She tapped her fingers on the table again.
Kaizer was about to reply, but he closed his mouth and scratched his chin. "I don't think you should go after these people by yourself. You saw what they did to the library. And I don't know if they did that to hide their tracks or to just... get rid of us. Anyway, these people? They're not calm little protesters... I think things are about to get worse."
The sound of the bell ringing echoed through the cafeteria, and a mass of students rushed towards the board in the corridor, where the map of the school showing what class is in what room was. Most students would just take a quick look and run off to their classes, while other would take a long, long time to find said classes.
"Well, let's get to work." the Headmaster said, standing up, and letting out a long sigh as he began to walk towards the huge group of kids blocking the way out of the cafeteria.
"Excuse me, but I must away," Zhao told Atan. "May you live long and prosper."
She gathered her papers, writing utensils, and eating paraphernalia into her back, and walked to her class. She expected master Fann to be as exotic as always, but that did not excuse being late, did it?
Aiko jumped up at the sound of the bell and raced off to the board. Once she saw where the next class was, she headed off to it. When she reached the room, she took a seat near the back and waited for everyone to show up and class to begin.
Atan stared after his brief conversation partner's back as she departed. What a weird girl.
Shrugging to himself he drained the rest of his water and considered the best route for circumvent the throng of bodies in the hallway. Unlike some people, he'd actually taken a glance at the map before sitting down. Well, they might have forgotten, so maybe it was better to give them the benefit of the doubt. Hmm. Stairs. No way around it. Immediately sagging at the prospect, the Waterbender slapped his face slightly to keep himself awake and began his trek up and over his classmates.

GM of AGOG S4: Frontiers RP; Sub-GM of TABA, SOTR, & UUA RPsTime to move, then. Classes would be good but the metalbending teacher was apparently not exactly his kind of person. He had already checked where he needed to go, and just started pushing through the crowd trying to get there.
"Well if someone doesn't try to stop them..." Tai left the mumbled thought unfinished as the bell rang, and quickly he finished his drink before scurrying out of the cafeteria. He'd already figured out a shortcut from the lunch hall to his classroom and so was one of the first ones there, and quickly he settled down in one of the seats near the back.
they/them || "Forgive me, regent of queer amphibians" - Lt.BGob"Well, class time, huh?" Kaizer said to Phoenix as he closed the last newspaper. "I have to focus on this class, so I'll just put these aside for a moment. Hey, uh... good luck on your class, Phoenix." he said, giving his friend a pat in the shoulder before standing up and walking out of the cafeteria.
Atan would find that the waterbending class was a tiny bit different: while it looked like most other classes (since it had chairs, a blackboard, and a few bookcases spread around), it had a tiny artificial pond filled with water in the middle of the class, and all the chair were arranged around it. Writing on the blackboard was an old woman, Kuilei Xue, the Academy's waterbending teacher. She stopped writing, glancing at Atan with her icy blue eyes and gestured towards one of the empty chairs.
"Sit. We will begin soon." she said with a somewhat calm tone.
There were a few other students, but all of them were either talking about the news that had just come through the radio or playing with paper airplanes. Two students were lazily staring at the fountain, and only those two acknowledged Atan entering the classroom.
Well, Sifu Xue is the same as always. Sending the two others who'd taken note of his arrival a brief wave, Atan tried for a moment to decipher what his teacher was writing on the board, then strolled over and took a seat near the ones who were discussing the news.
Let's see, who're we missing...? he mused, lazily leaning back into his chair, Just a few people. Hm. That guy, he said his name was Kaizer... He should be showing up soon. Must be new; I don't remember him from last year. Nodding to himself, he brought a hand to his mouth in thought and decided to pass the time listening in on the talk about the recent broadcast. It probably hadn't changed much since that morning, but it was always good to be up to date.
GM of AGOG S4: Frontiers RP; Sub-GM of TABA, SOTR, & UUA RPsXue was writing something about the philosophy of waterbending on one side of the blackboard, and the other side were crude drawings of waterbending moves- both basic and advanced- but the chatter about the radio broadcast seemed more interesting.
"Apparently, the Avatar suddenly showed up in Republic City this morning!" one of the students said, lowering his voice's volume so Xue wouldn't listen to him. "There was a battle, and a chase, and she was put behind bars for property damages."
"She? Didn't know she was a girl." the other student replied, chuckling. "How does she look like anyway? I don't think the Avatar has ever been in Republic City."
"Don't ask me, the newspapers are probably going to put out pictures of her in tonight's edition." the student replied, eyeing the door as more students came in, bowed to Xue (who just waved them aside) and chose their seats. "Looks like the guys from the Council, especially that one from Air Temple Island, are working on getting her out."
"And right in the middle of all those Equalist protests? You ask me, that's not a coincidence." the other student commented, raising an eyebrow. "I think the Council's behind this. Brought her here, made up a story just to scare off the Equalists... or something like that."
"Same to you."
Phoenix said as Kaizer went off to class. He quickly put his tray away and began to walk to class.
TV Tropes Powers. Activate!!!!!
"What an honourable way of viewing the situation." Tai replied, ignoring Kaizer's glare. "Personally I can agree to the holding up of debts, but on the other hand I feel like I should only have to pay a debt if I've done something that I know is wrong. And I don't think practical jokes and a need for proper education are 'wrong'. Probably the stubborn little earthbender in me."
He took another drink. "So really what I'm saying is that I'm going to try and skip detention regardless; the only thing that's up in the air is whether I can help out with your little investigation if I do manage to make it outside."
