Don't project ideals onto people? Set yourself a reasonable set of standards, including how often failures occur per attempt and judge based on that.

It's just simpler. It means I don't have to justify my decision as much later. I can just say "I felt like it." when someone asks why I did something.

True. I prefer giving articulate reasons in most cases though. It provides information we can get feedback on and then analyze it for flaws/strengths.
