On the other hand, it'd be cool to see what Gaunt can do with Jubilee.

Hi, Gaunt. Long time no see!

I'm certainly open to either Wasp or Jubilee. Both are very fun characters, and I've been itching to see them in action. If you go for Wasp, the only really significant thing that happened to Giant Girl was Wolverine asking her to commission a communicator for Starfire to send an S.O.S, which she never actually followed up on.

Alternatively, Jubilee could always add to the growing roster of New X-Men.

I should point out that DC's Bumblebee, who is basically an African-American Wasp, is also available for use.

...I think I just made an accidental racial joke.

Would you mind if I made some little adjustments to my sign up? On rereading, some parts don't fit with my mental image.

Ah yes, yay, I got accepted (was that a really late response?)

I'm just wondering, how do I get Bane into the story? Is there anyone he can talk to or do something with while waiting for the next day?

Orion: Wouldn't mind at all. Give it a sprucing up if you'd like.

Now, to get you into the game. Sad to say, everybody's off to their own stuff at the moment, and there may not be anything to believably finagle your way into. But on the other hand...

Orion, you're playing a heroic character. biomech, you've got a villainous one. Therefore, I propose a subplot! I'll set up a situation where Bane would be needed, like a raid on a military base or something, and Stargirl could come in to try and put a stop to it!

Eh? Eh?

Rather Dubious don't you think?

I was hoping for a slightly more subtle Bane this time round.

I'm fine with that, it can be lower key though if he prefers. Edits are made, nothing major.

I could always have it so that Stargirl faces something big, whilst Bane is somewhere in the shadows, playing a more low-key part, if you'd prefer.

By the way, bio, what's this new Bane's standing on the League of Shadows? Is he as loyal to Ra's as he ever was?

Name: The Wasp

Real Name: Janet Van Dyne

Gender: Female

Age: Mid-twenties

Appearance: A short young woman with neck-length wavy brown hair and blue eyes. Her costume is based around a flexible full-body suit. The suit covers her from neck to fingers and toes, black with yellow shoulders and a yellow wasp-stripe motif on the upper chest. A back-mounted unit houses a set of very lightweight mechanical insect wings, usually kept folded and stowed. She also wears a compact yellow helmet with prominent antennae and a retractable faceplate (similar to this).

Alignment: Good

Personality: A party girl and socialite. A very privileged upbringing means she is somewhat naïve, but she has developed a sense of social responsibility after her father’s death. She is boisterous, cheerful and confident, with an irreverent streak, an enthusiasm for hero work and an impatience for dithering or over-planning. She has always had a taste for action and adrenaline, but recent events seem to have exacerbated this to a worrying degree, although she'd deny anything of the sort.

Powers and Abilities: No special powers without her suit, although she is very fit and is fairly proficient in hand-to-hand self-defense.

Weapons and Equipment:

  • Pym-Palmer Array: Wasp's suit contains an extensive array of Pym particle conduits, which project a stable Palmer field when energised. This field reduces atomic distances, while maintaining density – she can shrink herself at will, usually operating at a height of 2-4 inches. She can shrink down to less than an inch if required, although shrinking too far puts a strain the array and can be dangerous in other ways. Because she still has the same density regardless of size, her insect-scale punches still pack a full-sized punch.

  • Wings: The wings incorporated into her suit are largely useless while she is at normal size, but once she shrinks down below roughly 6 inches she can use them to fly.

  • "Wasp sting" energy projectors: Emitters built into the palms and fingers of her suit’s gloves let her fire blasts of concussive force from her hands.

Origin: Despite being the daughter of brilliant physicist and businessman Vernon van Dyne, Jan had never really had any more than a casual interest in science or business. She did undergo training in lab tech and managerial duties, but this was mostly just to keep her father happy. More often than not, she used his money to throw parties and charity events and indulge in her many hobbies – fashion design, extreme sports, martial arts. That changed one day when, while she was working in her father’s research facility, a freak lab accident demolished the lab and killed the senior van Dyne. The staff that did make it out only survived thanks to Jan and one of her father’s post-docs, Dr Hank Pym, who helped the evacuation effort using Vernon and Hank’s work - the matter-altering Pym particle. Once the dust had settled, the pair found themselves in an on-again off-again relationship, with Jan acting as secretary and manager of Hank’s new lab.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing from there, though, with the pair frequently clashing over how to best use the Pym particle technology. Hank is uncomfortable with violence and believes that the scientific endeavour is the best way to help improve society, while Jan is convinced that their time would be better spent using their powers to go out in the world and fight supervillains. Indeed, the pair have gone out and done some hero work together, activities which Janet has displayed a worrying enthusiasm for, all but replacing her other hobbies.

Recently, the couple had a major falling out when Hank tried to put an end to the pair’s careers as heroes. This led to a rehash of the same familiar arguments until, sick of what she saw as Hank’s stifling lack of initiative and spine, Jan took her Wasp suit and struck out on her own.

Don't worry, Gaunt... I can come up with a handwave for the communicator by saying that Janet could not figure out how to make it work. Enough plot happened over in Jump City that fixing the communicator is rather pointless now, since Starfire got into contact with the Tamaraneans through a different method. Starfire is still stranded because she was unlucky with her few attempts to get back off of Earth.

Apropos of nothing: Should Pym really be credited with discovering the shrinking particles? Because presumably, The Atom (Ray Palmer) uses them as well. Of course, he hasn't appeared in this game yet (that I know of) but it's still possible he was working on it before Pym, and just that Pym came out publicly with his discovery first. (canonically, The Atom came first, I believe.)

Maybe we could make Ray Palmer and Hank Pym collaborators on the project, and rename the whole phenomenon the Palmer-Pym Particle (or P3 for short tongue)

Palmer and Pym are rivals... Palmer made the initial discovery of an effect which allows objects to grow and shrink in defiance to the Square-Cube Law. Pym then followed up on Palmer's research by discovering that this effect was caused by a new subatomic particle which was hencefore named the Pym particle. Thus you have the Pym particle causing the Palmer effect. tongue

I like the 'collaborators' angle myself, as well as having Ray formulate the process while Hank discovered the particle afterward.

So Gaunt, you're going to have Janet be in New York, then?

I like the idea of them being collaborators and friendly rivals, and the Palmer field / Pym particle setup.

And yeah, Jan will be in NY. If I have time after MMF 3.5 restarts I may ap Jubilee in the west coast thread too.

Accepted. And I also approve of the Palmer Effect and Pym Particles conflict.

  • Name: Gambit

  • Real Name: Remy Etienne Le Beau

  • Gender: Male

  • Age: 26

  • Appearance: Right here

  • Alignment: Anti-Hero

  • Personality: Cunning, tricky and flirtatious, but ultimately seems to have a good heart beneath it all. Very Sarcastic, Remy often prefers to try charming his way out of a situation instead of fighting... not that he doesn't love fighting. Unlike most heroes, Gambit doesn't value the lives of criminals all that much, and is much more than willing to kill if it came down to it.

  • Powers and Abilities: Gambit has the mutant ability to explosively charge and object by taking its potential energy and converting it into pure kinetic energy. The power of these explosions is dependant on the mass of whatever object he is charging. Gambit often makes use of playing cards, which have the explosive power of hand-grenades when charged.

  • Weapons and Equipment: Remy fights using a deck of playing cards, as well as a Bo Staff.

  • Origin:

    • Raised by a gang of street thugs who taught him the art of thievery, a 10 year old Remy was taken in and adopted by Jean-Luc Le Beau, the then-Patriarch of the New Orleans Thieves Guild, after Remy tried to pick his pocket. As part of a peace pact between the Thieves’ Guild and their rivals, the Assassin’s Guild, a marriage was arranged between Remy and Bella Donna Boudreaux, the granddaughter of the head of the Assassin's Guild. However, Bella Donna's brother Julien objected to the marriage and challenged Gambit to a duel. Remy killed Julien in self-defense, but was excommunicated and banished from New Orleans in an attempt to maintain the nonaggression pact between the two guilds.

    • Exiled by the only group he knew as a family, Remy took to travelling, never sticking around in one city for too long, performing petty acts of thievery for the sake of having enough money to get by. It wasn't very long before Remy found himself in with another gang, who saw his mutant ability to be quite useful. It was only when the gang took to armed robbery that Remy chose to break away from them.

    • Remy's passion for thievery was not as strong as his talent for it, however, and he chose to leave the practice as soon as he found himself in reasonable living conditions. The vision of crime he was raised in soon began to disgust Remy, who took it upon himself to make amends for his past sins. Remy turned his mutant abilities towards the prevention of crimes, as well as fighting against the oppression of his people that he had come to know during his days of travel.

Here is NPC person.

  • Name: Midnight

  • Real Name: Jeffrey Wilde

  • Gender: Male

  • Age: 20

  • Appearance: CostumeUnmasked. Midnight is 5'10.

  • Alignment: Good

  • Personality: Midnight is an overenthusiastic young man with a lot of confidence in himself and his worth, but little understanding of how the world he lives in works. He believes that people are either good or bad, with no shades of gray in between. As an unabashed fanboy of superheroes in general, Midnight supports the Justice Avengers and other heroes regardless of their popular reception; He treats superheroes less like lawgivers and more like celebrities, and sees crime-fighting as a 'sport or a 'game'.

  • Origin:

    • Little is known about Midnight, a mysterious super-figure who emerged from the night after a scandal involving Tony Stark. His powers are beyond those of any mortal man's, and no woman can resist his otherworldly charms.

    • Midnight is the alter-ego of Jeffrey Wilde, a college jock who always had a love for superheroes like Captain America and Question. As a regular viewer of a new Japanese Super Sentai series that starred Booster Gold, Jeffrey became instantly enamored with the fictitious and mostly unauthorized portrayal of Moon Knight that appeared in one of the episodes of the show. Jeffrey eventually met Moon Knight in person when he was being mugged on the streets late at night. Not aware that the young man was a fan, Moon Knight gave Jeffrey his STRIKE contact information in the event that he got into more trouble, which only gave him more inspiration towards being a crime-fighter himself. Jeffrey eventually made his own suit, and obtained a new car with a vanity plate. He has not done anything of note since then.
