Most Vicious Broken Bases in anime/manga

Digimon is the kind of show that starts internet wars.

Digimon Xros Wars, too. The base is broken weather or not the lack of a true power system that traditonally had been a part of the series matters or not and weather or not the Super Robot and Combining Mecha aspects of the series is either awesome, or boring.

Digimon was the show that you argue with your friends about everything.

02 had many problems. It was not only the shipping that causes fights about the show, but the ending...to this day, ask any fan about Digimon 02 ending and you started a war.

But I've never seen a flame war over Digimon 02's ending, because everyone agrees it sucked. Hard to fight over a thing everyone seems to agree on. About the only thing I've seen discrepances on is Yolei ending up marrying Ken.

Yes, the ending was terrible.

Venom-Vamdemon probably has one of the most embarrassing defeats of any villain in any anime, manga, or any other form of media I have ever seen.

Another really big broken base is the Neon Genesis Evangelion fandom.

Which is a damned shame because, as I said earlier, his absolute slaughtering of Mummymon and Arukenimon / Arachnemon was so freaky, that the kids were terrified of fighting him.

No Villain before or after has ever left the characters so frightened that they could even think of trying to fight back. That's fearsome.

That and accidentally helping Mummymon be pretty frightening himself(in the dub at least. "Teach you to fear me indeed''. If he had sounded like that while fighting the chosen, maybe they would have feared him).

Yolei thing was kind of expected. It more on which parts were okay and which were not. What I will never understand why did they try lighten the series.

Still beats the Lifemaker's defeat by a hundred miles. ONE PANEL PWNAGE! FOLLOWED BY OFF PANEL PWNAGE! Meh.

Hmm, I think there's also a broken base when it comes to Moe..

Though it's probably a bad idea to unleash that can of worms on this thread.

You may be right about that one.

And yeah, Kurata has a high spot simply for being the first true human villain in the series (no mind control or being misguided for this guy). That's earns insta-props.

I'm trying to think of other series that I know have broken Bases, but I'm drawing a blank. Many of them have been brought up already.

Actually, I think Haruhi Suzumiya has some Broken Base Issues, too, with how the series became instantly insanely popular thanks to the anime, Endless Eight, and Haruhi herself.

Endless Eight was pretty much universally despised with a Vocal Minority trying to make excuses for it. Their shipping wars in general, however, are very vicious.
