Code Geass: BotR III: First We Take Pendragon

Reginald stopped as he was just about to put on his new shoes. He eventually spoke after a rather tense silence.

"Get back in the car and come pick us up quick... we're getting out of this city" he said with an eerie calmness.

He then calmly exited the shop wearing his new shoes and offhandedly threw the old ones in a nearby bin.

For a moment he just stood there, motionless with his head down. He then raised his head... face turned into a snarl and then he yelled at the top of his lungs

"FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!" The yell was so loud that he no doubt attracted the attention of the entire mall.

But he didn't care, this trip was a fucking disaster! He'd lost his product and lost a great chance of a sizable profit.

He could vent later for now he had to get out of this city in case there was some salvageable evidence from his belongings in the hotel. The police could track him down by checking who was staying in the room at the time.

The trains were not an option as the police would probably close off the lines to prevent the bombers from escaping. So they'd have to take the highway all the way back to Tokyo... or possibly take a boat...hmm.

Oh and as for the fact that the car was a rental... who cares? He cloud change the licence plates back at Tokyo and sell it for a quick buck if he decides to escape via the highway.

He yelled at Gram to follow him and took off for the nearest exit of the mall, telling people to get out of his way. He pushed his way through the crowd and was nearing the exit but there was some guy with a straw hat and a schoolgirl in his way.

"Outta my way!"

"These are terrorists and cowards, I'd rather us be ready." Aqua said as she looked over the area they'd be arriving in and checked reports of activity's in that area.

"It might be better better if I follow one of you for a bit, to be sure," Naoise shrugged indifferently, "but if it's more efficient, I don't mind going on my own. We're just sweeping the building for possible suspects and evidence, right?"

-Osaka Mall-

Gram grunted and followed along himself but he shot Reg a glare. Before Reg could say anything, his cell went off.

-Osaka Bay-

"Understood," The Captain nodded and shrugged. They were still about an hour from Osaka if the conditions remained favourable and there weren't any delays.

The crew had clearly mostly replied to advertisement, most were trained but they were unfamiliar with eachother. It wasn't necessarily a comfortable ship to command. Further especially in larger groups with either him or the Commander, the Captain found a sort of tension. Especially with the Commander if he thought of it. That much was natural around authority figures, he imagined. Most of the men needed work anyway.Still, another hour of silence wasn't going to be pleasant.

-White Pine-

"Efficiency isn't too much of a worry. The worst we'll get is a few grumbling guests, none of which take priority over Britannia's security. Better if you follow along with me."

"The question is what do you want? Gate duty or to check out the scene?"

"I think regular officers can take care of the gates well enough."

"And we're recon and interrogation, not CSI. I don't think we can do too much that a more specialized team couldn't do better."

Reginald almost fell over as the ringing caught him off guard.

He skidded to a halt and grabbed the phone out of his pocket rather violently.

"What!?" he yelled into the phone.

"Captain, would you accompany me to the mess hall. We need to discuss somethings before we reach the harbor." Aqua got up from her chair.

-Osaka Mall-

"A bomb. Went off in the Hotel. Some CEO arse died. Do you think I'm going to stroll over to the fuckin car? The place is swarming with cops. Only way I'm getting out is through a check. I'm here fer the next two hours at least. Ye want to get outta there? Call a cab."

-Osaka Bay-

"Certainly," The Captain said standing up and following her out.

"Please god tell me you're not packing heat or anything incriminating" Reginald said as he paled.

Aqua and the captain walk silently until they are out of anyone's ear shot.

"I'm aware this is a recently assembled crew but how well would you judge they know each other? And their Captain? Me? ... Not very well. Captain, I want us to be united on this front and our crew united as well. I've been trained for this but I lack your experience, I'll need your help to do this, so what would you advise?"

The ponytailed man considered the options for a moment, then glanced at the hotel. "Well, it's not as though anyone's going to be getting in or out anyway, so we wouldn't really be doing much good just standing around at the gate, would we? Better to take a look around, I figure. We might miss something actionable or time-sensitive otherwise, right? Besides, we can always ask the guests a few questions about what they've seen, if nothing else."

-Osaka Mall-

"It's taken care of," Finds replied bluntly, "They're just planning on interviewer every fuckin one a the hundreds of people here, so I'm here fer a while."

-Osaka Bay-

"I don't think there are too many people here who came on familiar with anyone else so this isn't too out of the ordinary. Give it time and they will get to know each other. As for us, it'll be a bit longer perhaps after a bit of conflict and you should earn their confidence. It's just a matter of everyone getting comfortable and realizing we're in it together. Unless you've had some case of insubordination that I'm unaware of?"

-White Pines-

"We're not just sitting by gates," Timothy replied, "People need to get in and out and we're getting in their way."

"There's decent odds that the perp is amongst them," Sean added, "An inside man could be found before he slips away. The Gate's interviews."

"Decent is far from a hundred. Regulars can handle the doors," Timothy countered, "We're recon first. Without a serious lead, we're better off looking for how the bomb worked. We're first on the scene and it'll anwser more questions than hear the businessmen prattle on about how we've delayed their meetings."

Reginald sighed in relief. That was close. Finds was his right hand man, if he got nicked then Reg was screwed six ways to Sunday.

Still though, it would take a while until Finds could leave the hotel and by then the police would've probably closed off the roads.

Hmmm...

wait a minute. If Reg remembered correctly, whilst he didn't deal in Osaka directly, he did give his product to people who shipped the product from Tokyo to Osaka, one of who'm had connections to a trading company in the Osakan port.

"I'll call you back Finds"

Reg hung up and then quickly dialed in a new number.

ring ring... ring ring...

This guy better pick up

They're keeping them at the gates? Shit, how'd I miss that?

"Eh, no, he's probably right." Naoise frowned in thought, but nodded to himself after another beat. "Tell you what, how about you go to check out the scene and leave the prattling businessmen to Sean and me? Knowing the ins and outs of the device is good and all, but if there's even a slim chance the perp was in there, we're probably better off tightening the net as much as possible."

"No," Aqua laughed slightly, "Thankfully, I've just had to deal with some of the crews wit."

"Yo," A voice picked up Reginald's call, "Whaddya want?"

-White Pine-

"Alright," Timothy shrugged, "Good luck to you."

"It looks like most people have got their numbers and have pretty much accepted the wait. At least until they're given one on one time with us. Come on let's check by the gate, O'Connor."

-Osaka Bay-

"Then it's all a matter of just a matter of time," The Captain said, "Though don't let them talk down to you while you're waiting. Make sure they recognize you as a leader first. I imagine you're aware of it, but it's easy to let a joke slide at your expence. Until you've established you're in charge you can't let them think of you as anything other than their boss."

"Oh, naw," Walter said into his phone. "Was just talking near some friends. So where'll I be sleeping tonight?"

"We're calling around looking for employees in the area. I just got word that we found one whose been with the company for a while. Haven't gotten his name yet, but I'll p- ah here it is. Wentworth. Walter Wentworth. He says he saw you recently and so he should recognize you. He should be around shortly, though we may have to call again should he have trouble finding you."

"Hmmm... hold on there, Jimmy" Walter said into the phone before looking up.

"Hey Walter," Walter said to Walter, "What did you say your last name was again?"

Aqua raises an eyebrow, "Are you criticizing my leadership, Captain?"

"Yeah is this O'reilly? Its me Gregory"

Osaka Mall

"Wentworth," Walter shrugs, "I'm just off the phone with them."

Elsewhere, No Far from there in Osaka Mall

"Yeah this is Reilly. What do you need Greg?"

Osaka Bay

"No," The Captain replied, "Only forewarning."

"Yeah listen, I know you gotta few boats. I want one, don't ask why, just lemme have it and I'll make it worth your while. I don't want a friggin' yacht or something like that just one that can carry 3 people and can make it to Tokyo quickly. Something like a speedboat".

"Good, I'm happy to know that you are willing to make these types of thoughts known to me." Aqua paused for a second.

"I like people who are forward with me, I come from a world of figures and sales. A half-truth or an omission of facts in my world can lead to a loss of millions of dollars. Your world isn't much different except the price is far steeper, when it's lives which are on the line. Wouldn't you agree?" Aqua turned to the captain.

'Fuck man,' O'Reilly sighed, 'You always do this. You gotta learn your shit first before calling around making demands. I do shipping. Why the hell would I need a speedboat? I'm in Vladivostok right now, talking with some Chinese so I really have bigger fish to fry but you're an old customer and I got a friend who seems to suit your needs. I can sort things out work on them but this isn't a bribe and security deposit, Reg. You have to know you're asking me to call in favours, make international calls and make sure it all falls into place when I'm talking much bigger numbers with the guy accross the table from me now. Also this friend is a bit of a prick when it comes to haggling. So expect this to take more time and cost you more money. If you're still desperate enough not to just hail a cab and make all our lives easier.'

-Osaka Bay-

The Captain paused for a minute. There was some visible discomfort with the comparison. Though he replied, "I suppose it is true in that sense."

-Osaka Mall-

"I'm making sure you're safe and probably seeing to it that you get out of here. We were checked into the same hotel, remember? I have a feeling my room is closed in the best case scenario..."

-White Pines-

Sean Brosnan and Naoise O'Connors moved to the door. There a woman, probably in her late fourties to early fifties, was trying to get past the standard guards. She looked hysterical.

"Let me in! You can't do this! I'm a Brittanian! Do I look like a terrorist? What the hell could I do now anyway!? My daughter and husband are in there! Can't you have some human sympathy?"

Sean smiled at the policemen and then turned to the Woman,

"My apologies ma'am. You'll just understand that we're a little scared too," Sean smiled, "Here, come in let me take your coat. Once you pass this line you might have to wait for a while before you can go out again. Is that alright?"

She nodded slowly.

"Now let me take your hat too. Don't worry, it's all going to the coat check. You'll get it all back on your way out. Now, we don't know everything yet but I haven't heard about any injured girls and I know that there aren't any girls dead. She's still young isn't she?"

She nodded.

"Okay, then one last step across the line. Just empty your pockets and leave your shoes. It's not how I'd like it done, but we're all a little scared."

She nodded and went in.

He turned to a policeman, "Keep an eye on her but she should be fine."

He turned to another, with her shoes, "Rummage through if you feel the need but you should be fine now."

Meanwhile behind them, what looked to be a native businessman seemed to be tapping his foot impatently. Others behind him had formed a line.

A Scotsman, identified by a tattoo of a Lion Rampant over Andrew's cross shook his head for a second in disbelief at the Businessman tapping his foot and sought to make his way closer to him.
