I think this trope might be being misused in some places. Some examples seem to merely be about characters representing the concepts of Yin and Yang or opposite forces. This trope is really supposed to be about absolute, undefeatable forces in conflict, or characters that have absolute properties that are in contradiction. Like the classical examples of Unstoppable Force vs. Immovable Object, Unblockable Spear vs. Unbreakable Shield, Uncatchable Fox vs. Inescapable Hound, or even God trying to create a rock so heavy He can't lift it (a one-character example).

Some of the examples don't really fit that, like Pokemon, Asura's Wrath, American Gothic, The Matrix, The Eternal Altercation, or Taoism. These seem to be more focused on opposite forces and Yin and Yang, when these characters aren't really supposed to be absolute. Are they?

Maybe the trope needs a rename. Yin and Yang aren't really that connected to the concept of paradoxical conflicts between absolutes.

And I have no idea what that image is. Unless those are supposed to be two absolutely undefeatable beings (and not just really strong beings), it doesn't work.
