I was fine with that from the get-go.
Just to make sure, though, there are no cross-shaped symbols in Eastern religions that would otherwise fit?
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.I still like the jesus thor picture from the previous thread. but i suppose this is fine.
The only cross symbol I can think of from the east is the swastika. Which looks little like that. The symbol in the film is just oddly shaped like a Christian crucifix.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan Chah^^ Thor-themed Jesus is not the trope; it is Jesus-themed Thor.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.[1]◊ doesn't count?
Thor-themed Jesus is not the trope...
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.I think that is jesus themed thor. I don't care if it doesn't make it to the main page.
With a JC emblem on his shirt? It is clearly Jesus.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.I have to agree.
The trope is about Christian themes leaking into portrayals of other religions. The Jesus-Thor isn't that trope, it's someone imagining Jesus as Marvel's Thor.
I like the Aang one. It's clearly eastern, and it's clearly a cross on his back.
Evil is my favorite color.Aang is okay. I think it's mashed together poorly though.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Clock is set.
I also like the inexplicably cross-shaped tattoo.
350 px wide, and 400 px tall:
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.
I think the wider would probably be better, since there's not that much text in the description.

Check out my fanfiction! That image is so-so. Looks more like Everyone Is Jesus in Purgatory to me.
(Also, is the cross on the back really a Christian symbol?)
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWell, crosses is one of the most popular symbols in many cultures. However, this particular one is a tall cross (I think it's called a Latin or just Christian cross), which is distinctly Christian.
Actually, the centre circle makes it look more like a Celtic cross...

Check out my fanfiction!I'm good with the horizontal version.
The trope is not about Christian symbolism, but about depictions of religions (and simila) being taken over with Christian elements.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanYour point being?
Check out my fanfiction! That image looks more like generic Christian symbolism.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI see it as a shortcut for a comparison to Jesus. It doesn't mean it's supposed to actually be Christian symbolism, but an allusion to what it implies about him. Ultimately, the cross serves as a symbol for Good.

Check out my fanfiction!I'm not a fan. The image isn't all that clear, and I'm not convinced that Avatar is an example of the trope in the first place.
The trope description talks about a western adaptation emphasizing Christian-seeming elements from a story; about turning all characters in a religion into expies from the bible; and about turning the main bad guy into a Satan expy. None of that applies to Avatar.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!
This is a good example but not sure whether it's a good image. Aang's back tattoo in The Movie becomes suspiciously cross-shaped: [1]◊ [2]◊

Suggestion from previous thread, contrasting Aang's Eastern-ness against the Western imagery:
