Suggestion: Affirmative Action Girl

I had to shrink this image pretty drastically to get it through the uploader; can you still tell which Avengers are female?

The costumes give it away for most of them, but the black blob with eyes on the right could just as easily be Shadowcat or Venom for all I can tell.

More importantly, what's going on? Did a new character get added with no explanation in a blatant bid for extra "diversity" or something?

Nah, the show rotates who gets in the intro, generally depending on if they're in the episode. Ms Marvel was introduced earlier. (And it's Black Panther on the right, Venom and Shadowcat aren't part of the avengers)

Well, she didn't get added with no explanation. Episode 15 introduced her as a friend of one of the founding Avengers, and in episode 30, she helps some of them save the world from getting conquered by aliens. The team recruited her for those reasons.

Could you tell the gender of the guy in purple?

You mean the one with the bow? It looks more like magenta, really. Yes, I can tell that's a guy, and no I couldn't be sure about the black shadow on the right. That was kinda the point of mentioning both Shadowcat and Venom (I did know that Venom is usually a villain and thus wouldn't make a lot of sense, which makes it sillier).

Ontopic, now: is Miss Marvel the second female Avenger depicted in this continuity? If so it could be viable, although obviously something larger or more readily accessible would be nice.

Ms. Marvel is the second female to join this cartoon's Avengers.

I couldn't get that program to work on my Mac Book, so I tried different compression software. The image only turned out a little bit bigger than last time, though.
