Does anyone know how to install a firmware update for a smartphone using a PC?
My Galaxy S4 is having issues with it's wireless capabilities (Wi Fi and Bluetooth) and I'm hoping to update it to see if that is the problem first, but I can't install the update without Wi Fi due to the update being too big, and I don't want to send my phone in or get a new one unless absolutely necessary.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Samsung has a software package called Kies that lets you back up, restore, and update your phone from your PC. I recently had to use it to help a relative with a phone problem.
Note that newer phones are supported by the Kies 3 software, but that version drops features like the integrated contacts manager; one presumes that they intend for you to use a Google account for that.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Made a firmware update. Same issue. Factory Reset. Same issue.
Not really looking forward to getting a new phone, but I may have to.

All night at the computer, cuz people ain't that great. I keep to myself so I won't be a case on The First 48Welp, yet another reason to not use download sites.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.Oi. Sourceforge has always been problematic with the ads, including misleading download buttons, shovelware, and so forth, but this just seems wrong. Their excuses are pretty transparent. I already try to use them as little as possible, but that's not always possible for some projects.

Light-based computers will be even more awesome than we thought: "Researchers have come up with an efficient way of transporting data between computer chips using light rather than electricity. Not only does this mean that computers will be able to transmit data much, much faster, it also means we could build machines that consume far less energy."
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite. And run Crysis on Ultra.
Inter arma enim silent legesAnyone trying Palemoon? I ran it a couple of times and it seems like...Firefox's lazy brother in law:
- All that extra memory I just put in (4GB) and it still crashes.
- Not all add ons work with it.
- It can't import bookmarks from firefox... wiskey. tango. FOXTROT.
I'm giving it a few more days and then it either stays or goes to the HDD in the sky...

Tried it myself, didn't even feel much different from Firefox.

All your safe space are belong to TrumpSo, anyone knows how to build a custom gaming PC? You see, with Fallout 4 on the horizon, the old consoles and my dinosaur of a laptop won't cut it. Xbone and PS 4 doesn't support modding and my current laptop is on its last legs.
The main issue I'm concerned is that a 1000 dollar machine is beyond my price range and well, I just wanted a PC with superb performance.

well how much are you willing to spend?
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.Don't worry, you can easily surpass a PS 4's performance for around $500.

Well that should be easy. US$? I'll go to the partpicker site and er, pick for you then.

If you're unfamiliar with components I'd suggest going with one of the bundles from Newegg; they (usually) have everything you need and aren't going to run into incompatibility issues that you could run into picking stuff out on your own without knowing what your doing. They're also generally a bit cheaper that getting the same components individually. Link.
Here's something. Of course you have discretion on which particular vendor to buy from. That list includes a monitor, but not an the OS.

New tiny silicon chip paves the way for light-speed computers: "The smallest ever 'ultracompact polarisation beamsplitter' - a component used in silicon photonic chips - has been developed by engineers in the US, and because of its ability to deliver information via two separate light waves, the device points to a new generation of computers that can transmit information at the speed of light."
