Injustice: DC fighting games

Well not appearing in the story =/= not being in the game. Unlikely, but not impossible.

Every fighting game seems to have at least one character that is either not plot important or doesn't appear in the plot at all, and is just happy to be part of the roster. Injustice 1 had Dick! Nightwing (though admittedly, that's because Damien seems to have been an intentional fakeout) and some of the really incidental characters like Raven and Ares.

They could go with a way to keep the gameplay, while not using the dead character.

For example, Red Arrow instead of Green Arrow. Damian Wayne as Nightwing. A different person using a Green Lantern ring.

Plus, based on MKX, Superman and Wonder Woman could come across as good guys in multiplayer matches. Liu Kang was a revenant in the story, and alive and on the side of good in multiplayer.

I never watched all of this series. Well this was a clip from the Superman Animated series, but I guess the video's gone.

Never knew there was an Evil Superman before Justice Lord Superman, or the Red Son one I guess.

I was surprised we didn't get a character reveal at the New York comic con.

Yeah, evil Superman is not a new concept, it's kinda why some people dislike the idea these days.

Hm. The topic came up in the MKXL thread, so I got thinking, what guest characters do you think will be DLC in Injustice 2?

I figure we'll get another Mortal Kombat character (Sub Zero being most likely, and if not him, then Cassie Cage). Aside from that, I'm not quite sure.

It will definitely not be Cassie Cage. She's popular within her game, but that wouldn't translate into DLC sales. It'll be someone from the first game, like Sub-Zero or Johnny Cage.

I don't know much about Watchmen, and on that note characters from there might not technically count as guests any more, but I feel like getting someone from there is pretty likely.
Otherwise, I think the obligatory Mortal Kombat character will happen. If anyone I'm banking on Shao Kahn; though I think Sub-Zero, Raiden, and Johnny Cage are also good kontenders for the slot.

And for a pipe dream guest character, thanks to someone on GameFAQs bringing up the idea, I want He-Man in all of his hammy '80s glory.

What about the Power Rangers? They are getting a crossover with the Justice League coming out soon.

If you're gonna play that game, may as well have Captain Kirk - there was a Star Trek/Green Lantern Corps crossover not long ago.

Honestly, I could actually see them doing Power Rangers. They'd work well with the gear system, you could have all the different colored rangers available through the alternate color palettes, they've got an upcoming crossover, two decently popular comics going, and a movie coming out.

Plus, just having an advertisement saying "have a friggin' power ranger punch Batman in the face" would be enough to get sales.

I've even got an idea for some Ranger dialogue

Batman: Your test begins now.

Tommy: I have nothing to prove to you

Batman: My standards differ from you master's.

There being a new movie is both a point for, and against the Power Rangers. On the one hand, it's a good opportunity for cross-promotion, but on the other hand it is made by a competitor to Warner Bros.

Also, Sandman isn't a crossover. Those characters exist in the DCU. In fact, I'm pretty sure Martian Manhunter is in the series, early on.

Don't expect any character reveals in a while. Voice actors are staging a strike against multiple game developers, including WB.

This will definitely impact the game's development, but they're probably just going to focus more on stuff like stages and gameplay until this gets resolved, at which point they can start working more on story and character interactions.

Given the timeline of when this is supposed to come out, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the dialogue was already completed. It's typically one of the first things you would do.

Fair enough. I know they're still deciding on some of the cast, such as Red Hood and Starfire being recently chosen via poll, so it'll affect at least some of them. Hopefully you're right though.

They could always hire non-union/amateur VAs for any new characters. Out of curiosity does anyone know if Hynden Walch is union?

You realize those polls don't dictate a whole lot, right? Netherrealm already has their finger on the fandom's pulse. The polls don't really decide who gets in the game so much as who gets revealed soon.

Let me put it this way. If you've heard of them, they're almost definitely union.

Rule number one in Hollywood is to be union, so it's safe to say yes.

Ideas for guest characters: Earthworm Jim, and The Tick.

Earthworm Jim would be grand. Loved him in Clayfighter.

Is there anyone from the first game you guys really want to come back for this one?

I'm really hoping for Hawkgirl and Batgirl.
