You know, this whole paywall thing reminds me of another theoretically retarded feature: they allow members to pay to change other members' avatars? It's almost like they're encouraging trolling.

It's mainly for comedy and things like that. (SA is primarily a comedy site after all) Though some people do use it to buy people actual avatars. And it costs even more money to do so than changing their own avatar, so people don't do it willy nilly. Only if like someone is super pissed at someone else (or really creeped out), do they change someone else's avatar to an embarrassing one.

Someone in the DR thread made these. Good god they look amazing.

Oh my God! Those Easter Eggs! XD

First one involves Naegi, Yamada, and Hagakure spying on the women in the bath. They are not caught. To get it, you must get an item called Man's Ambition from the Monomachine.

Second one requires you to possess the Easter Egg item that you get for clearing the game. After that, you can get an item from the Monomachine which unlocks a movie where all the students escape.

For the record, that 2nd one isn't connected to the main game and you have to view it through a separate menu. Not sure what's up with that movie really.

And yeah, the avatar buying totally encourages trolling. Sure, people legitimately buy avatars for each other, but you can't bury your head in the sand and say that SA is a nice, reasonable place for nice, reasonable, decent people to hang out. Because it's not. The red text and troll avatars just drive that home. Comedy? That's what I call bullying, honestly.

But yeah, here's to hoping baldurk, god of L Ps, gets the thread archived in a timely manner...

If people buy red text and avatar for you, then you've fucked up somewhere. No questions asked.

Also, orenronen is posting the remaining free-time events starting with Sakura. We also got the last official pin-up. It depicts Kenichiro, the strongest man alive, and Sakura's rival and first love. We also got a picture of both Kenichiro and Sakura... and Sakura looks very different from how she looks now...

You know, I remember that official picture that showed the drastically different appearances of Sakura as she aged, but I can't find it at all.

For the record, there is no conspiracy about the paywall. It's a joke, and someone else handles when it comes into play. And he's not the kind of guy to deliberately close off sections of the site just to spite people. Just wait a while.

I'm sorry that not everyone on the internet is a nice person. Also, the site's been around since at least 2000, and SA was a much different place back then. (which explains the whole buying someone else's avatar.) And people don't get red text avatars, unless they really fucked up somewhere, or really pissed someone off.

Pretty much this. I've seen the posts that some people made that caused them to get these avatars, and they pretty much deserved it. (Yes, please tell the whole world about your horrible opinions on rape, or wanting to have sex with your cousin/sister, or how {anime character} is your waifu~.)

Man, Sakura was one of the best characters. Why did she have to die?

Now we got Celes' free time events. ... She is probably the least interesting character in the game. But we do find out she isn't that different from Yamada. And her events do give some plausibility on how she screwed up the 3rd trial badly.

See, I'm used to people being douchebags on the internet, but paying good money just so you can say mean, hurtful things about other people? That's a whole other level of douchebaggeyness. And even if the people who get those avatars/text deserve it, which I doubt all of them do (according to GIFT), it creates this incredibly hostile, aggressive, unwelcoming atmosphere. Compared to something like, say, the TV Tropes fora, where people are generally chill (except in the IJBM? Which was deleted or something?), it just feels like a pretty horrible, 4-chan-y place to me. Which is weird, because I've followed some pretty good threads there where people had reasonable, interesting discussions and stuff which suggests that the community doesn't consist solely of elitist bastards, but the general tone of the site feels like "TROLOLOL KURIRIN ASS RAPE GTFO ANIMUTARD TAKE YOUR DISGUSTING NERDERY SOMEWHERE ELSE BECAUSE HERE WE ARE ALL COOL AND SUPERIOR AND YOU ARE A SMELLY LITTLE PIECE OF SHIT ALSO HEY HAVE SOME INTRUSIVE ADS EVERYWHERE SO WE CAN PRESSURIZE YOU INTO MAKING AN ACCOUNT". Well, not exactly like that. But you get why it doesn't exactly give off the best first impression to newcomers.

I've seen the posts. They DEFINITELY deserved it. In most cases anyway. There are extremely rare cases where someone buys another a RT avatar for a really petty reason. (Someone in the LP forum was having trouble setting up Super Meat Boy races, and was having some trouble with videos and all that.) And people with RT avatars don't usually mind too much, and some even wear it as a badge of pride. And if people actually care about it, they usually buy a new one. I won't deny the hostility though. I was nervous about making my first post, and am still kind of nervous about posting. But after a while, I got settled in. It's a lot less hostile than it appears on the surface. There are some genuinely chill people there though. (the TF 2 thread was a lot less elitist than I thought. People in there are really willing to help you out if you ask.)

Trust me, the forums has some nasty folks and places as well.

I've seen that avatar before, and frankly, I find it hilarious. It's so ridiculous and over the top!

SA folks usually seem like pretty cool guys to me, though really I've only lurked in the LP forums so I guess I can't really say.

@Celes free time event stuff: So Celes is a pretty big nerd too?..Well, that pretty much explains why her and Yamada were friendly enough for her to tell him her actual name in the past...

Yeah, some of their translation choices are pretty questionable. "Super Duper?" Are you kidding me? And what's with the titles like "Luckster" and "High Roller?"

Orenronen announced that he and a group of others are working on a fan translation, too. Which is good, since I'd much rather go for one based on the LP than the other one, which seems like it's just trying to make the names different-sounding because they can.

I think this translation is just trying to be way too literal. Which isn't a good thing for a translation unless you're trying to keep the meaning for a damn good reason.
