-shivers- Wow. Nice trailer.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Only 2 posts?
There are new Demo trailers out, one featuring above-ground combat. New features include burning materials which can be set off by your lighter, using your lighter without the objectives. Blood and other things, such as water, now splatter your gasmask and occassionally have to be wiped off.
Monsters have gotten more detail.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head from the trailer you can download on PSN.
Also, just beat Metro 2033.
Very big Daydream Believer. "That's not knowledge, that's a crapshoot!" -Al Murray "Welcome to QI" -Stephen FryI'm glad this one is coming out on PS 3, the first one looked (and from what heard) and was very good.
It is, but it was... weird. Recently I've had this thing about examining how games incentivize certain behaviours or choices, or how balance or lack thereof incentivizes things, and I think the problem with the first metro was how it was weird about violence vs stealth.
I'd explain, but it's 4 in the morning and I need sleep.
Very big Daydream Believer. "That's not knowledge, that's a crapshoot!" -Al Murray "Welcome to QI" -Stephen FryGenerally speaking, Metro 2033 mostly incentivized.... stealth violence. In any situation where it was possible, you were best off sneaking around and killing people silently, with silent weapons like the throwing knives or tihar (the pneumatic rifle). This is generally only possible in the first half of the game (such as the bandit camp after Riga, or the Frontline level), as later on you're not facing any human enemies, which makes stealth a lot less useful. For the higher difficulties of the game, it's actually a really good idea to use both the stealth armor first (buy it at Armory) and the heavy armor (buy it at Polis) to get the best of both worlds.

“You can’t be an important and life-changing presence for some people without also being a joke and embarrassment to others.” -Mark Manson.'PC Versions' of most 360 games are straight ports running at higher resolution anyway. Some are locked to the same resolution too. Big whoop.
Yeah, I liked the first Metro, but then again I played it on 360. I hate it when I play a PC port that is just a shitty mishmash and feels shoehorned.
I've only ever played Metro on the PC, and it really doesn't feel shoehorned at all.
Ok, so there is a lack of options in one section, but other than that it's fine.
And after I found that GTA 4 looks better on my PC than on a 360, I'm not going back to consoles when I can get it on the PC. Except in a few scenarios.
Very big Daydream Believer. "That's not knowledge, that's a crapshoot!" -Al Murray "Welcome to QI" -Stephen FryOne thing that I am not so fond of from looking at the new trailers is that they seem to have stopped the equipment-based gun damage system. In 2033, every enemy's pouch or gasmask or holstered weapon etc would remove a little of your weapon's effectiveness, which I thought rather realistic, especially with dirty rounds. Unfortunately, as the series' tropes page notes, this was never explained to players, so people started moaning about enemies becoming bullet sponges, when well-aimed head (or better yet - neck) shots are all that is required.
Schild und Schwert der ParteiOh no...
"It’s also likely that “Metro”’s harsh atmosphere and delicate, unorthodox mechanics — such as using bullets for currency, meaning players literally wasted money by missing shots — didn’t resonate with American audiences."
THATS BECAUSE ITS IN THE BOOK.
Ah crap...

Eh, you can't change the game too much at this late in development, so if they do actually change things then the problems will be ones involving last minute changes.
Either way, lol, PR talk from people who know nothing about games.
I hope you're right.
And hey, if final game is changed radically from original game, it was probably changed long before Deep Silver Unless Deep Silver delays release long enough to do that or something
There's an interview with the author on Giant Bomb. Metro sounds like a really interesting series, I've never heard about anything like it on such a scale in such brevity.
Also just throwing it out there, but the "Bullets as currency" mechanic is what drew me to Metro 2033 in the first place.

Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally!Okay, Dmitry Glukhovsky is an awesome guy
Its pity that American publishers tend to assume that American customers are dumb/hate change/hate "exotic" stuff.

Still looking forward to this. Metro 2033 was awesome, here's hoping the sequel lives up to it.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien. For the record, that part is pure speculation. All the publishers says is that 2033 was huge in Europe but not in America.
Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally!Actually, that was statement of ALL publishers and not just ones who published this game/books
Metro: Last Light is now available for pre-order on Steam. Pre-ordering it gets you an upgrade to the "Limited Edition" for free, which includes Ranger Mode (seems to be the same thing as it was in Metro 2033), a new weapon (the Modified Russian Rifle, "a compact but deadly Russian assault rifle, perfect for claustrophobic combat"), extra military grade bullets (I'm ambivalent on that — though I hope there's some way to disable them or something, so that "limited edition" isn't the same thing as "easy mode") and a "Metro Last Light Digital Comic" (by Dmitry Glukhovsky — the guy who wrote the Metro 2033 novel — so it's probably worth checking out).
Release date is set for May 14th — oh, and you get 10% off the preorder if you already own Metro 2033.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.I don't know how I feel about the very hard mode being pre-order only.
Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally!I am a bit ambivalent about that myself, mate, but the ten percent discount if you own Metro 2033 is a nice enough touch that I can sort of forgive that.
Thanks for the info, Jovian.
My impression is that Ranger Mode isn't preorder only, but that it'll be a DLC that preordered copies get for free. I could be wrong, though.
