Nostalgia Filter should only be bandied about when someone says, "(Insert old game) is better than (insert newer game) because (insert wrongly remembered facts that are easily corrected by a replay)."
As for the Zelda fanbase, I can think of a few possible reasons (without falling back on that catch all phrase "Fan Dumb") that they're unpleasable: 1.) Twilight Princess hit the equivalent of the Uncanny Valley in terms of how close to Oo T it was. It was too close for them to consider it in its own terms, but not quite close enough to be considered a remake of the game. (Granted, I think it's just fine in its own right, and don't usually compare sequels to prequels anyway.) 2.) The fans just really consider Oo T the pinnacle of the series. Considering all the good it did for the genre and gaming in general, compared to the other games, I can see Oo T being the most relevant, overall, of the Zelda games to date. Had SS been the intro game for the Wii, instead of coming out after TP and all the other motion gimmick systems of this gaming generation, it probably would have had close to the impact that Oo T had. TP just wound up stealing SS's thunder.
@Lolotea
I agree with this. I even made a thread about it on OTC that maybe you'd like to see. EDIT: thread got opened.

Instead, I have learned a horrible truth of existence...some stories have no meaning.
I'd say there's a difference between saying "X is horrible because it isn't old" and "I like Y better than X because it fits my tastes better."
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."
