Just a Face and a Caption: Middle Child Syndrome

I was just browsing at some random tropes when I stumbled on this page's image.

First of all, the image is another JAFAAC. I really can't tell who is the middle child out of the three women. And even if I did, the picture doesn't tell me the trouble they go though because of it. Also the caption says "some caption text". Really.

And to add insult to injury the image is unsourced. sad

I say we just pull it. The page is better off with no image instead of a bad image.

I can't think of anything good for a signature.

It's definitely not JAFAAC.

More like JAF.

Move to immediately pull.

Motion to pull after some consideration.

This image, it is useless. I support the pull motion.

I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn!

It isn't harming the page. It's vaguely possible to see a difference between the left one and the others in terms of posture/clothing style, and from there infer that she might be the middle child (I haven't watched Downton in yonks, so I could be completely wrong about it being Edith).

However, it really isn't good — the only way I know it has merit at all is because it's better than the previous one.

Very very weak Keep Until Better Image Suggested unless the blond one isn't the middle child. If that's the case, I strongly support the pull.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

My main thought was, "wait, this is supposed to have anything to do with the trope?" and a general feeling of confusion. To me, that's harming the page, even if it's mildly.

The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.

Hm, so the picture demonstrates the trope name but not the actual trope. Yeah, I agree that means we should remove it. We should also consider renaming the trope (because it's narrower than its name implies) but that's a TRS matter.

Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!

It's a pre-existing term.

As for the image weak. I'd support a pull.

How about we use the first, second, and last panels of this?

[up] If someone could resize so it would be easier to read, then it would be an improvement.

The last panel alone could even work.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.

It's a good suggestion. I do think it needs more than just the last panel to be clear.

Here's the first, second, and last pictures upscaled to 350 px. Sadly, the image quality is already pretty low, so there are many artifacts and much blockiness:

They don't need to be that large, especially with the vertical height. We can just take the original sizes and replace them with better quality text.

[up] Agreed, provided the text tweaks look good.

At least something like this would make it obvious who the middle child is.

Trope is "The middle child is overlooked and unloved or at least feels that way."

Also, 350 px wide is a maximum, not a minimum. Not all images should be max width. The words in that cartoon are legible at half that width (which is four times smaller res), tho that is maybe overboard. Being bigger than necessary tends to make images look as bad or worse than being too small. There isn't a technical height limitation but I try to avoid going over 350 px tall if possible.

Me; I had the idea but I couldn't find a work with an image properly showing that, so I decided to make it myself.

Not a huge fan of stick figure art but that has some style, it's okay.
