"And so an hour passed as Hayley, Edward and (possibly) Alister learned how to play poker. Hayley came close to winning a couple of games, but was usually beaten soundly by Edward.
Then the lunch trolley came around."
That way, we can imply they played poker without going through the rules.
I don't think you should time skip quite yet... I think you should wait until Edward at least tries to convince the smug idiot to play poker with them.
I'll edit my post, then. Besides, Alister hasn't had a chance to say yes, yet.
It's done. Sometimes I get a bit ahead of myself...

Thanks!
Anyway, Edward was taught poker at a very young age by his father and his two uncles, and one of his uncles boyfriend, at the time. The conversation went a little like this, "Son, you need to learn how to lie. To help you, I thought I'd teach you a simple game called Poker. Here's your hand. Have fun figuring out the rules as we play it with you."
...I would like to make straight that I am not like Leo IRL. I just like playing jerks for some reason.
Master of the Cliffhanger! Fire Emblem Elibe LP!All good.
I'm not that much like Hayley, either. She's a much more upbeat person than I am. I guess it's the whole shock of being in another person's shoes that makes roleplaying so much fun!

I'm not exactly like Edward, irl, though I was sorted into Slytherin by Pottermore...
Also, Hayley isn't the same year as the smug idiot. She's a year younger than him.

I noticed that.
Geez, my grammar's getting sloppy. It's usually not bad at all, but today I'm making a mess, and I have to re-edit and re-re-edit a post to get it right.

Oh, gods. This conversation with the smug idiot is hilarious.

I'm shy IRL, but probably not this shy.
Or possibly more shy than this, I don't know.
"Yup. That tasted purple."I agree!
I've seen you far less shy than this... I've also seen you far more shy than this.
Insults by implication: Awesome.
Master of the Cliffhanger! Fire Emblem Elibe LP!I wonder if I got a bit carried away with the Voldemort impersonation?
Don't worry, I think Edward's implied threat might make up for it.
Merlin's Beard! This is hilarious!
Master of the Cliffhanger! Fire Emblem Elibe LP!This just gets better and better!
And I think I might be making up for the Voldemort impersonation.
By the way, how do you make videos show up in posts?

No problem, and now you can do the time skip with us playing poker.
I must say that time skipping would have caused us to miss a great insult-volleying round, so I should thank you.
And as for your question on the wand length of Edward's wand, I think I have a hunch as to why.
Superficially, shorter wands seem to be for shorter wizards (Peter Pettigrew), while longer wands tend to be for taller wizards (Hagrid). And Edward is short, so according to that reasoning, he would get the shorter 8" wand.
However, the number of inches does have significance in itself. For instance, Voldemort and Bellatrix had 13.5" and 13" wands, respectively. and 13 is traditionally the number of evil.
I think very short wands might suggest that a character is lacking in substance in their character, which would suggest Edward's morally grey nature. This theory can be seen in Peter Pettigrew's wand as well.

...Well, given that I'm not entirely certain on the rules of poker, no, not exactly, but Edward will... What I'll probably do is something like "Then he explains the rules of Poker."
Yes! We need to do that.
