I wonder about how much it relies on the (rather small) text to work.
I have a message from another time...
I can read it currently, but if it were any smaller I wouldn't. I can't think of a better picture.
Text isn't resized from the original comic and I don't think I could upsize it without it looking quite horrible.
Even if it were crystal clear, agree, it is carrying a lot of weight.

The picture is less than 350 pixels wide, so sizing is not an issue. Current size may be quite small, still. Maybe cut the first picture's text and upsize the second one's a bit?

I attempted a version
◊, but it would be good if the stuff about occult energies could be preserved. On a page the transparancy of the bottom text wouldn't be a problem.

◊ is comic sans text with wide kerning but normal letter width, and this
◊ is basic alphabets. One clear difference between it and Digital Strip is the D; in Comic Sans, the bowl is "pulled" downwards, while it is "pulled" upwards in Digital Strip.
I think the most obvious difference is that Comic Sans's capital 'I' has serifs.
