Also, according to a Twitter comment apparently the jungle-less Cyrodiil is due to the jungle having been a "transcription error."

[up]No, that's the people's blood vessels popping.

Nerdraeg has already become so loud it's undetectable by human ears.

[up][up]I have lost all hope for this game and wish it dies a painful death.

@Description of Summerset Isles:

First edition PGE is full of propaganda and exaggeration; this is well known.

@Cyrodiil not being jungle:

Well, of course not; Tiber Septim made it temperate (see "From the Many-Headed Talos", "Commentaries on the Mysterium Xarxes"). Probably a Cosmic Retcon since this game is set before Tiber.

Somehow you know that the time is right.

A grand, beautiful looking city should not be considered propaganda. Making their architecture look straight out of Tolkien isn't giving a "correct" view, it's laziness.

Let's not forget that the still very shoddy retcon of Talos unjungling the jungle was made around the beginning of Third Era.

This game is set in the Second Era.

Oops.

[up]Indeed. And let's not forget the fact that for an exaggerated propaganda, it's pretty damn accurate on pretty much everything it talked about (with the exception of Black Marsh), particularly Morrowind and Skyrim.

I think he meant it looks like generic, Tolkien-aping medieval fantasy architecture, which it really does.

On the bright side, we know a ESVI is inevitable and a significantly more cookie-cutter title - especially a MMO - may gateway a ton of people into the next main game.

The advantage to making all the lore come from in-universe sources is that they can always change it later and say the in-universe author was lying/biased/uninformed/a moron. I'm surprised more franchises don't utilize this method of justifying their retcons.

Yeah...

I think I want to play. I have been trying to get into mmo's for a while and the presentation video really sold it to me. Only real complaint is Argorians look kinda uncanny.

This game's Skyrim looks suspiciously like they ripped most of the art assets from ESV (the giants and the Dwemer constructs seem nigh-identical). On one hand that means they preserved the aesthetic. On the other hand, the fact that this is a distant prequel and everything looks identical to the present day seems rather lazy.

I couldn't identify Morrowind until I saw the Silt Striders, mushrooms and epic helmet crests.

What I find suspicious is that the female grunts in this video sound almost exactly like a voice sample from RaiderZ. There's some cribbing going on.

They straight-up said that they took the art styles for Skyrim, Morrowind, and Cyrodil from their respective games.

[up] They had the excuse of it being set 1000 years earlier to change Cyrodill's art syle? And they kept it? Why!?

Probably to keep players of oblivion who don't know from getting confused. I did see jungle in the game in the video though.

[up]I think Oblivion players who would complain about a non-Gondor Cyrodiil are a minority.

This is more of a case of uncreativity-due-to-lazyness than anything.

Has anyone bitched about it on their forums and got a response yet? Because I bet 20 bucks that says they'll pull something like "Tiber Septim used CHIM to retroactively change Cyrodiil into a standard European country," or "We're just trying to stay true to Bethesda's artistic vision, guys, stop being so mean ;_;."
