"Doesn't necessarily mean" also means it can mean that (and looking at that specific example, it does, from the description). I don't think it distracts from the trope, and it sort of has the right idea.

Errr, I'm not sure what this is trying to be. "A single father" doesn't necessarily mean widow. All in all, looks pretty poor.
