I'm writing a Rock Opera right now, and I can safely say that Jazz would be the absolute worst genre for a rock opera, but if you were willing to put in a lot of work and planning it could possibly be pulled off...

If you want a good example of stream of consciousness writing which is still legible read Fight Club. If you want an example which isn't legible there are numerous options to oblige you, but I can't remember the ones I've read off the top of my head.
