Seriously, who expected this to happen? And what will it mean for, well, Spyro and Crash or whoever?
(That said, this definitely beats being a dev for freaking COD.)

I'm happy that Toys for Bob is now independent but at the same time it kinda confirms that we aren't getting a sequel to Crash 4.

Toys For Bob could still make a Crash 5 eventually as they mention exploring making a partnership deal with Microsoft.
What's that category for 100, 200, 300, 400 & 500?

Finally played the main campaign of Crash 4.
It’s a blast to play through, but MY GOD THIS GAME IS FUCKING HARD. 
I probably died more often in a single playthrough than in all of the previous games combined, and still failed to get the box gems in most levels.
Not really a fan of replacing the speed shoes by that weird triple-spin in the time trials. It’s pretty clunky and unintuitive, and the timing is quite difficult to nail down.

Yeah, you basically need a guide to find a bunch of those crates. And the hidden gems too, for that matter.
I think the triple spin was due to them overmapping actions to the controller, but I agree that doesn't make it not suck.

Okay but "staying online indefinitely" is the second best possible fate an online only game could have, right behind "you can make your own servers for it so even if the studio that made it literally ceases to exist you can still play it"

I'm actually intrigued to see what Toys for Bob can do now. With their experience with both Crash and Spyro, they could make their own Spiritual Successor to either or both without having to necessarily worry about the company's brand management department breathing down their necks.
I wish Beenox would do a similar thing with Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled, launching one last update for the game in honor of its 5th anniversary this year, also getting rid of the microtransations.

I’ve gotten to getting all gems in regular levels, it’s going pretty smoothly (if you ignore the hundreds of deaths 
). And some time relics, now I’ve gotten somewhat used to the triple-spin. I must say this game is incredibly satisfying when you master all the mechanics and manage a perfect run in a particularly tough part.
The N.verted levels however… I don’t even wanna touch them. It would have been a cool idea for a few levels, but for every single level and even the bosses? That’s just overkill, especially when most of the ones I tried were basically just the same level with a visual gimmick.

For those who own Crash 4 on PC: someone released a mod that rebalances the game to be in line with the original trilogy. Here's the trailer.

It's weird to see people excited for something that removes large features of a game.

Same. This mostly just seems like an extreme easy mode mod. I'm not sure getting a Bragging Rights Reward like 100% completion matters enough to me to get a mod that removes chunks of the game to allow me to get it, though I will say I have to acknowledge the massive amount of work that must have gone into making it.

Toys For Bob is closing its offices due to the layoffs.
It doesn't mean the studio is shuttering, but it is a bad sign.
