There are certain Christian churches which are okay with running gay weddings correct?
METAL GEAR!?
On a tangential note, I remember reading a hilarious exchange between a pagan and a priest in Bernard Cornwell's Saxon Chronicles:
- Pagan: Are there any women in heaven?
- Priest: Of course! Many of the blessed saints are women, there is Our Lady, Mary Magdalene, there is-
- Pagan: I mean women we can hump.

Schild und Schwert der ParteiThere are. Which makes those of the anti-LGBT lobby who cry freedom of religion look even more ridiculous.
Also, Loki would laugh at Phelps' claim to speak for God, and probably at his obsession with sexual orientation, being a shapeshifter capable of being any gender.
Correct.
Wikipedia has a handy summary of the positions of most denominations.

But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas.@Carc: The link doesn't work.
@Morg: Isn't presuming to speak for God a major sin?
METAL GEAR!?@Card - Extremely major. Bad things happen when mere mortals claim to place themselves in authority over other mere mortals.
It was an honorSorry, it's the usual problem with long url links. Try this tinyurl link, it should work.

But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas. As far as I understand, Carc, sex with a horse is still legal in more states than gay marriage is.
Share it so that people can get into this conversation, 'cause we're not the only ones who think like this.Any farm animal or just horses specifically?
Huh. Didn't know they needed legislation for that.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.That's true. It might just be one of those things no-one thought to ban.
Just had a very frustrating conversation about homosexuality with my parents. I love them, and they are both very smart people, but when their arguments boiled down to "It's not natural!", I just had to Rage Quit.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.I'm sorry Ninety.
I've been told I am turning my son gay just for talking to him about it. I just answer how I am doing my part to curb world over population since I was selfish enough to replace myself in this world.
"Psssh. Even if you could catch a miracle on a picture any person would probably delete it to make space for more porn." - AszurNinety have you told them that it happens in nature? I guess they would respond with "not natural for humans" but eh.
I'm sorry they are using that tired old argument. It must be frustrating.
METAL GEAR!?Thing is, this is a bit awkward to admit here of all places, I'm not even what you'd call a stalwart defender of homosexual rights. I am conservative-leaning in most aspects (down here it isn't a swear word), and this topic hadn't been much to me for a long time. Live and let live, you know? But after half a lifetime of enabling it, I'm getting pretty damn tired of homophobia. Because what I've said here still applies: there's nothing in either the Bible or dogma to justify treating people like shit.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Eh? I've never seen anyone in real life react terribly to somebody saying they are Conservative even among the most Liberal of my friends and I live in a pretty Liberal state.
Yeah homophobia is still embarrassingly widespread. But it is slightly getting better for the homosexual population even if in some places I'm sure it doesn't feel like it.

What I've seen is mostly people going after the Republican party.
METAL GEAR!?And Canadians and Brits pretty much uniformly going after their respective Conservative parties.
Anyway, on topic, the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, which includes an overwhelming majority of all Catholic sisters in America, overwhelming support for reform on sexual matters (including homosexuality), and generally living up to exactly what we wish the rest of the church would, is getting reamed for "radical feminism". Essentially, Benedict had them investigated over the last several years, and Francis is okaying an order for them to fall in line.

...I should start using conservative as a swear word just to mess with people. Like, I touch a hot plate and yell, "Conservative! That's fucking hot!"
Maybe I should phrase it better. I've never seen anyone come here, mention offhand they are a conservative and everybody get really angry at them. I've seen it for expressing viewpoints but never whether they identify as conservative or liberal.
I wouldn't worry too much about this labeling of the Woman's Religious. I don't think they'll try to go so far as to alienate that many of their members much further by continuing to label them. If they try it for much longer there going to lose a lot of support, not just from others but amongst their own denomination.
METAL GEAR!?The Canadian Conservative party pretty much stole an election and the British one failed to secure a majority but is running the country (plus they are making taxpayers pay for the funeral of their ex leader). So we moan about then because they suck, not because they are conservative.

"And the Bunny nails it!" ~ Gabrael "If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we." ~ CyranI thought the canadians moan abou their conservative party because Harper is basically EVIL with a capital everyrhing and he's a part of their conservative party.
ANYWAY, the Vatican is in a really awkward position over this. LCWR is not only a vast majority of their own nuns in America putting forth radical ideas the Vatican wants to see quashed, but also has a certain amount of moral leverage otherwise in that they have a pretty sterling record on everything else, including charitable areas the rest of the Church has been dragging their heels on. They're pretty much a walking refutation of "supporting X leads to general moral decay" even on the Vatican's own terms.
