What if Lelouch can't be Zero in R2? SPOILERS

By the time the first season ends, Zero's identity is known by several different characters: Viletta, Shirley, Suzaku, Cornlia, The Emperor, and V.V. The canon Reset Button memory wipe undoes Zero's identity being compromised, allowing for the "Is Lelouch Zero?" game played in R2.

But what if that didn't happen? What if Lelouch evaded capture and the Black Knights remained intact (regardless of whether the Black Rebellion was a success or not) and was faced with the possibility of Zero's identity being exposed from several different people (such as Suzaku contacting Tohdoh, or Cornelia or even Charles himself publicly announcing his identity)? Would he try to reveal himself to the Black Knights, or would he abandon them and try a whole new approach to fight Britannia, and what would that be?

Also, what would Lelouch do if not only was he faced with Zero's identity being exposed but also failed to rescue Nunally?

I don't see why this question can't be discussed in the Code Geass thread.
