Cassette players in 2006 pushed my suspension of disbelief.
Yay for anime with middle-aged men suffering mid-life crisis for a change.
Seeing as I enjoyed the manga, I'm curious at seeing how the adaptation stacks in comparison. So far its been pretty faithful, but with directorial flourishes that make the experience flow better onscreen. Definitely a keeper, and seeing as this has 51 episodes to pace itself, there's a whole lot of time to develop (and grow attached) to the characters.
Incidentally, was I the only one thinking of Koutetsu (from Tiger And Bunny) whenever Mutta opened his mouth?
That... was . Can't wait for next week!!
i. hear. a. sound. You know, the manga scalations aren't too far along yet, so I have to wonder if we'll see the same sort of astronaut isolation exercises and whatnot like that featured in Twin Spica, Planetes, and Star Children.

Who's subbing this? I can't find anything on any of the torrent trackers...
You can't even write racist abuse in excrement on somebody's car without the politically correct brigade jumping down your throat!
Horrible, though I'm not sure if Commie is doing it as well.
Commie was trolling, so their file is actually a sub of some Japanese folklore show.
You can't even write racist abuse in excrement on somebody's car without the politically correct brigade jumping down your throat! It looks like the series isn't running for 51 episodes after all, at least according to ANN's news [1]. That's... kind of disappointing, really.
Ah, some clarification, finally. Apparently June 27 isn't the end of the broadcast for the show, but of the promotion related to it — there is a mention of a 'present campaign'.
Awesome first episode. Really like the direction, conveys that feeling of chasing after dreams really well.
I kind of like how down to Earth this series is.
Sadly that probably makes it too mundane for me.
The music is nice though, and the characters are good too. If this has any filler though...
I might finish this. Depends how many episodes and where the plot's going.
Can see this show being a great reaction face resource, that's for sure.
What's precedent ever done for us?Just watched the episodes yesterday. I really like the characters
3DS Friend Code: 0302-0823-4983 Black 2 Friend Code: 4084-3672-3624Episode 3: Funniest one so far. Also, Serika is now aware of Mu's existence and has considerably good impression of him.
I want to watch this, but I heard it's 52 episodes. I'm just going to wait for the thing to finish and marathon it.
That's just an unsubstantiated rumor.

Really loving how the romance subplot is going on. Nothing is forced, everything is happening so gradually.
Also love the sudden bad english during the interview, and his response to it XD. This anime is so relaxing to watch.

I consider it my duty to ensure that, should you be surprised by a bear in your library, you will have ample ammunition to beat it to death.Gods, Mu is too adorkable! Can't. Stop. Chuckling.
Oh no, they're going to make the competitors more sympathetic.
Am I the only one still watching this? XD
Seriously, kinda sad this thread doesn't get more traffic considering the show has been able to consistently make me laugh and warm my heart.
Case in point, this week's episode, which deals with Fukuda's rather sad back story at the same time Furuya breaks his glasses, and all the things that happen as a result.
Anyway, just dropping in to say that the new OP is awesome. It has dancing!
EDIT: Next week... the seeds of infighting.

Episode 15: Said seeds of infighting? Fukuda did it. I'm genuinely surprised. Is that why we got an episode about him?
Of course, this can still be part of the exam. JAXA might have just told him to break the clock. But I can't help but think otherwise...
Episode 17: Laughed my head off when Mutta immediately assumed that JAXA instructed Serika to cause a food shortage. And now JAXA knows about his crush on Serika. XD
Episode 18: In which Kenji realizes what ka-pe means. D'awww.
First episode out.
The Zidane headbutt scene was incredibly nostalgic, even though it wasn't that long ago for me.
That childish "I wanna be an astronaut" feel is also coming through strong.
