Would their A game be enough to fight Dabura if they never stumbled upon SSJ 2?

They're looking at it more from a The Good Guy Wins perspective. They're of the assumption the next villain wouldn't be as strong if they never got pushed as far as they did by Perfect Cell. What derails this train of thought is that the story could easily be "This is Dabura! This is what Cell would have become if Piccolo had allowed him to become perfect! There's no easy way out, this time! Many fighters will die!" as opposed to "This is Dabura, he's only as strong as the last villain, whom we've surpassed anyway. His unimpressive power has lured us into a false sense of security."

Anyway, I think the biggest problem is that Piccolo enters the time chamber stronger than the saiyans but exits weaker. I don't really see the point in not having him at least keep par or stay stronger than them until Gohan reaches super saiyan 2. But that's really because I like Piccolo and didn't see what the point of having get surpassed by Trunks, who I figured we'd never see again, was.

In reality it was Piccolo's last hurrah. He's lasted longer than all of Goku's other rivals up to that point but his time was up. Vegeta's last hurrah would have likely been immediately after if the next volume and a half hadn't abruptly became about Gohan before putting Goku back in the limelight.

I know there are some fans who hate the fact the dragon balls are used to solve the problems of Dragon Ball(who would have thunk?), fans who hate that someone besides Goku became a super saiyan (its not special no more!), fans that hate the fact saiayns became so relied upon(blond delinquents/Nazis!). Their train of thought is that Goku just leaves everyone else in the dust until Piccolo sacrifices the dragon balls to become more powerful and then Goku and Piccolo stay at the top of until someone, usually some cool new demon or whatever does a Heel–Face Turn and becomes Goku's new rival.

I've seen it before and understand the sentiment but I really don't mind that the Buu Saga had become so saiyan centered because it seemed evident Vegeta was about to be phased out and something might be made of the Fat Majin Buu, who never got his rematch with Goku. Even though the manga came to an abrupt end afterwards, Goten and Trunks were still apprehensive about fighting Fat Buu and this human child named Uub was hyped up as the next big thing, so it was easy for me to imagine adventures centered around Pan, Uub, Buu, Goten, Trunks, Goku and Gohan as the story continued...

But what's that, the story really did continue? So what did we get? Dragon Ball GT, aka "Saiyan, saiyan, Goku, saiyan, saiyan!", Dragon Ball Online, aka "humans who are really tailess saiyans, yellow faced nameks and maijin kids" and Battle Of Gods/Revival Of F/Super'', aka saiyan, saiyan, gods, saiyan, saiyain!"

Super isn't as bad as GT on that front, as Beerus and Whis get to demonstrate their superiority as goals well out of reach, but it's still saiyans doing all the heavy lifting. Online was the best, by making the yellow faced nameks and majin kids equal to the pseudo saiyans. You already know how I think that could improved, but it won't be.

• Still using that Evil Energy I see.
• Time Breaker movie villains indeed.
• Who is "Super Janemba"? There's Janempa, and Janemba.
• I wonder if Super Saiyan 3 will have some massive energy drain.
• The Future Warrior looks like a dork now.
• Okay seriously, 1:00-1:25, that part is excellent, I love the way that guitar riff comes in when Gogeta and Janemba are fighting.

Janemba is the yellow fat form and Super Janemba is the red skinny form.

It seems transformations are in their own slot this time, THANK KAMI! Also, if you fully charge as a SSJ, you can transform even further!!! And there's no infinite ki-spam, so thank Kami for that as well. Also, one of the new moves is the Bending Kamehameha! Neat obscure variation, and one of my personal faves. Also also, you can charge ki blasts, and those charged blasts vary by character, adding more uniqueness to each moveset!

Time Breakers, movies intertwining with the main story, SSJ 3 transformations, DRAGON FIST EXPLODEEEEEEE.

Though it was a bit jarring how the trailer suddenly didn't have english voices during some parts.

I'm hoping for the glorious return of beam struggles.

That would be great, those were like a staple almost.

Oh yeah, two other things I noticed.

1) GT Kid Goku is back, so I imagine we're going to get all the GT guys back and thus a more expanded GT storyline. I wonder if they'll incorporate any movie villains into that.

2) With the fact that you can go to different areas of the Dragon Ball world through the hub, and because I saw the likes of Frieza and the Time Patroller posing with Ginyu, I think this time there won't be any RNG'ing for mentors.

I hope, for Frost Demons and any other non-human we get, that we can customize their inhuman bits separately. If I could have the segemented tail and the tail-coat at the same time, that's be pretty swell. I hope Frost's slim look gets in, at least as DLC. It would actually be a pretty good parallel to the various iconic characters when the get their shirts ripped off.

That was a good trailer.

Oh yeah, something that is concerning me a little bit is that we haven't seen much Android/Cell and Buu Saga stuff.

Granted we still got four months until the game is out, but I do hope they don't shaft the other Androids (16 and Gero specifically) and Dabura again.
