Karin was able to pick up the cane.
"Go? Go where?" The woman asked Jian Yu, forcing a smile past her tears. "He'll be fine, he just needs someone to wake him up."
"It's okay, Miss. We'll bring him back to Engate's Keep for treatment. For your safety, it's best that you come along with us too - this turn of events has been... quite unexpected, to say the least. Now, if you'll excuse me..."
With a heave, Roland hoisted the injured man on his shoulders and started walking, making sure to keep a safe distance from Karin and the staff. Gods-damned thing has been no end of trouble, he thought, and wondered how they were going to explain the two wrecked houses.
Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation."I... I... just... hurry." She said, somewhat defeated. After a moment, she jumped up, and started rifling through the rubble, muttering something about a hammer.
"Oh, blast. They said he'd be carrying a hammer... Okay, I'm getting Zerithan back to the keep first. Karin, we'd best get that staff back as well, but it looks like you might have to walk the rest of the way. The rest of you, find his hammer and evacuate the area."

Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation."Illusion spell," Laeven answered, trying to stay out of the way of the potatoes being dumped on his already-full plate. "I'm mostly no good at them, so I practice for something to do. I think that's enough, thanks," he said as Feltar finished covering his balanced meal with potatoes.
Ponders too much; thinks too little. Currently goes by Knowlessman.Emily, finally done whatever she needed to do in her room, entered the mess hall.
Entering it something bothered her. She shouted "Hey! Where's the mess!"
Some people say I'm lazy. It's hard to disagree.Feltar chuckled, but walked over to the serving area to pick up a plate as he called back, "Right here! Now sit down, say whatever prayers you need to, and dig in." He started scooping the potatoes from the pot he had carried out onto that plate.
Emily got herself a plate of potatoes and than sat herself down.
"Seriously, if this place is supposed to serve food, it would be better to call this place the food hall!"
Some people say I'm lazy. It's hard to disagree. The woman quickly found what she was looking for. It looked much like a normal 20-pound sledgehammer, with a dull gray head and dark brown handle. She went back to the group, and joined them as they walked back. "Alright," she said, biting down on her lip, "I'm ready."

"Indeed, I wouldn't bring my mount a hundred feet close to this thing" says Karin as she holds the staff, waiting for the rest of the group to get ready to depart back to the keep.
If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.Well, timeskip time.
As the recruits returned to the keep, a group of people ran out from the gate, including Zerithor, Palan, Narkus, and Miss Blackiron, with Narkus carrying a stretcher on his side.
Zerithor approached ahead of the others, his face visibly angered, as he asked "What happened this time!", loudly, in Violet's face, causing the woman to start crying and sputtering out a stream of unintelligible words.

Roland set Zerithan down gingerly, laying him out on the grass. "Long story short: Our friend here got kidnapped by a leprechaun wielding the Orb of O'Malley - probably the orb on that staff that Karin's holding - and we got him back, but the miscreant escaped. Let's just say that some 'creative' architectural remodelling was involved."

Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation."Orb of..." Zerithor froze for a moment as he looked at Roland, then quickly turned to face Karin, holding up both his hands as his staff rested against his chest. "STOP!" He yelled at her. "Don't get any closer to the keep! Don't even move!"

"Karin. Don't. Move." <Gods-damned ogre-sucking spawn of a pox-ridden devil whore!> The Core Gem! Roland, you are a gods-forsaken idiot!
Only goblin oaths would've properly expressed Roland's panic as he belatedly made the connection between the Captain's panic and their latest find. His illusion maintained a look of calm composure, but his words were barely able to hide the urgency of their situation. "Bahtan was sent here to repair..." He looked around at the newcomers, not recognising any of them, and decided to keep the details to a bare minimum. "...a key magical installation in the Keep. If that anti-magic orb gets anywhere near it, we might have trouble. What now, Captain? And who are these people?"

Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation.Getting yelled. Again.
"Alright, alright I don't move! What's wrong this time?" asks Karin as she keeps still.
If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything. The magic knight stopped, but from her indignation, it sounded as though she didn't get the hint.
"Karin. Remember when we were researching on dimensional rifts, and how they 'require a constant magical source to control them, by use of a magical system'?"
"...You've got an anti-magic orb in your hands, and Bahtan was sent to replace the keep's Core Gem. Do the math."

Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation."This time!?" yelled the old man. "We still have the crater from the last artifact you brought too close!"
Roland scowled in irritation: the yelling was getting them nowhere, and he could sense tempers fraying dangerously. Still, he had to stand up for his comrades. "With Due Respect, Sir, your screaming isn't helping at all. Now for the sake of all of us who have absolutely no idea why you're going into a fit, please explain what the exact problem is, and how to handle the Orb of O'Malley safely. Otherwise, someone's going to end up bringing it too close to the Core Gem, and you're going to have much, much worse than a crater to worry about, gods help us all!"

Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation. As Laeven stood around watching the shouting match with the other new(-er) recruits, something occurred to him: If there's an anti-magic aura up, it isn't apparent to me... He summoned a small flame to his hand to be sure, and quickly dispelled it.
With a puzzled look on his face, and after Roland finished talking, he asked, "How far does that orb's effect reach? It can't affect the Core Gem from out here, can it?"
Ponders too much; thinks too little. Currently goes by Knowlessman."Look. Judging from our fight with the leprechaun, as far as we know, it's got a permanently active personal field around whoever's wielding the staff, and it shoots multi-coloured beams of force. On the other hand, we know absolutely nothing about the Core Gem since the one who's supposed to be replacing it was killed by a flying goblin corpse in a shambler attack en route to the Keep, and so we have no idea how far the magical containment field actually extends. For all I know, the entire Keep, magical defences included, could be part of the seal..."
It took Roland a while to realise that he'd blurted out nearly everything that he'd been trying to keep confidential, and he smacked his forehead in exasperation.
"Oh, gods, I've done it again. Who are you, and what business do you have with the Order?"
Damn it, Roland. How did you survive seven hundred years with such loose lips?
Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation."Laeven, and I recently joined it, as did the rest of us." He indicated the other recruits around him *.
Ponders too much; thinks too little. Currently goes by Knowlessman."Yes, I was recruited, FROM THE FUTURE! No wait, I was recruited in present day..."
Emily was left to ponder what she said, forgetting to introduce herself to the rest of her members.
Some people say I'm lazy. It's hard to disagree.Jian Yu shook her head. As if the batch of recruits she had been assigned to were not problematic enough...this other group looked potentially worse.
"I am Jian Yu," she said, stepping forward to introduce herself. There was no sense in being rude, after all.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)"Alright... so I move back. The way I came. And when I'm outside do I leave this staff on the floor?" asks Karin with a bit of irritation due to the man's yelling.
If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.
"I agree," Jian Yu said, making her way over to the unconscious man. She put a hand on the woman's shoulder. "We need to go, so his injuries can be treated."
At least her defensive seal had not been needed. Just as well, as it had been another anti-magic shield designed to protect against magic, not physical blasts like flying coins. Leprechauns were very strange creatures, to say the least, to come up with attacks like that.
