The description is a bit of a mess, and is unclear, there are no examples and only three cross-wicks. The only reason it is here rather than the Cut List is that it has 66 inbounds. Somewhere, someone, is coming to us for this. Can it be saved at all?

Has this been around for a while? I'd guess so, with inbounds.

What in the...

I can't find who made it in the edit history.

Inbound referrals point to gianttip, which generally gives us lots of inbounds.

Hmmm, redirect it to an actual trope or toss back to YKTTW?

Pretty much all the inbounds come from the following forum thread.

http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=210496

On 08-07-2011, 03:58 AM, "Mutant Sheep" linked TV Tropes through this "trope"

Someone had linked TV Tropes Will Ruin Your Life.

He posted, and I quote

"You cant just link it! Be a tiny bit more... sneaky."

There is also one inbound showing from http://ap.lijit.com/adif_px.php?z=129298&u=tvtropes

I'm sure that site even still exists, given that all my attempt to visit that are failing.

This isn't exactly encouraging.

I'm thinking it is just a way of doing a Stealth Hi/Bye rather than a discrete trope in and of itself.

I can't even tell for sure which character in this little scenario is supposed to be the sneak. It is the guy snooping or the guy who suddenly shows up behind him?

ICBW, but I think it is about someone subtly sneaking up on someone else, who is in turn sneaking. I think.

I'm not quite sure what the trope is supposed to be. The example as a thesis is kinda messing with the description a lot.

I think it's "sneaking up on someone who is trying to be sneaky in order to surprise them", but I could be wrong. The Internet Archive says we had this page since September 2010, with the exact same description and no examples. Dunno why it was never noticed.

Considering the lack of wicks, it's easy enough to slip under the radar.

The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.

I only found it because I was hitting the "random" button.

So, anyway we are back to my original question. Can this be saved or should it be cut?

Throw it back to YKTTW. I think there's a trope there, but this page isn't worth keeping as is.

Which would be a cut first. If someone wants to adopt it, that's cool too.

Can we just cut this and close the thread?

I'd say redirect to something similar. No reason to lose the inbounds.

The inbounds have nothing at all to do with the trope, and are more related to the idea of being sneaky. Specifically, they mostly come from a forum post where someone said that links to TV Tropes should be sublte.

How about Stealth-Based Mission?

PS Edit: You know what, I just realized what this "trope" really is in part trying to describe.

No argument on the inbounds being wrong, but unless it's a creepy page we don't want to lose them.

I'm all for redirecting it to Stealth Hi/Bye.

Redirecting to Stealth Hi/Bye is fine.

I have made the redirect. I hope that's alright.

Should we close here?
