Does Not Illustrate: Headphones Equal Isolation

So the shot is of a guy with Headphones looking out onto the sky. Nothing indicates he prefers to be alone as there aren't people seen or mentioned in the image. Nothing about the image screams "loner" to me.

As a replacement image I suggest images from the opening scene of The World Ends With You, with this one◊ as an example, though I'll upload and splice together the seperate screen images to include the people on the bottom scene. Besides the text this image has Neku's eyes covered by bangs in a way which looks like a deliberate means to avoid eye contact, and he's holding the headphones indication that they are an important element of the visuals. Are there any other suggestions, from The World Ends With You or elsewhere?

Oh, it's a games for the DS! I spent the longest time trying to figure out what you meant by "bottom screen." I'm wondering what that screen looks like now.

Yeah it's a DS game. The images are meant to be seen one on top of the other in the opening of the game's case, top screen has text, bottom screen has images.

Might work. Can't say until I see it, though.

As soon as I saw this thread, I instantly thought of TWEWY.

Here's pretty much every image that can work from that opening cutscene.

The first image I showed did have both screens on it. The bottom screen was Neku and the top screen had the text on it. With a little editing I was able to get Neku holding his headphones combined with him yelling at a crowd (which was slightly earlier in the same scene.

Egh...

Editing a scene like that is...not so good.

It's one thing to make a tiny edit like rub out a corner or border or something, but to completely alter the scene misrepresents the material.

I was trying to get around the fact that the opening only shows Neku wearing his headphones after all the people are gone. The change is just to clarify the picture a bit.

I'd prefer to keep it as it originally is. As such, he has the headphones on while he's saying "I don't get people." I think that's pretty good.

OK. That was the first image I suggested. Is it OK to put up considering there's no non TWEWY-image suggestions?

Annoying? The point is to establish that the character depicted has a HUGE character flaw if that's what you mean. So I can put it up right?

And I guess the fact that I find him immensely annoying there means the storytelling works. Still, not everyone has the context.

On the second point, I'd say you can.

It works. I think the caption is just snarky, though, and it's better off without. The text in the pic is enough.

Also, less text adds to the loneliness.

We were still going with the same image but smaller. The last image was rejected due to the fact that I over-editted it.

"Misrepresents the material" isn't a good reason I don't think. It's not about intended representation or preserving the artist's vision.

That image looks edited, though.
