Just found this weird little nugget while browsing Gamespot:

Gettysburg: Armored Warfare

It's an FPS-RTS hybrid that supposedly takes place in an alternate reality where tanks, blimps, miniguns, and body armor were invented. The tanks look pretty damned recent too, one of them looks like the German Marder and another like the Panther tank. Got no idea regarding the details of the story though. Man, and I thought the plotline behind RA 3 was crazy!

I may just get this when it comes out, looks wicked. I don't think there is a story, this close to release (It's supposed to come out during the first quarter of 2012. We're nearing the end of that) they'd have given something of the story up if there was one. It's just multiplayer mayhem.

That actually looks really cool ^^

I'm always a fan of alternate timelines, so this is a must get.

Why the hell did EA not take this idea and apply it to the Command & Conquer Franchise? It would've been PERFECT!

[up]The survival of the "Battlefield" style of gameplay proves otherwise. What might've brought it down was the lack of polish on the multiplayer side of things, or unfamiliarity with the concept back then.

Hell, Renegade actually inspired the idea behind Battlefield in the first place, and some of the original team that created BF 1942 were former Westwood employees!

An it's been released on Steam today! I'd consider buying it, but I'm strapped for cash at the moment (bills are coming up).

Anybody else here planning on getting it?

I looked over the requirements, and I think my processor is up to it. I think I will.

Total Biscuit did a "WTF is..." of it and ripped it to shreds. The game is broken beyond belief and should not have been released.

Yeah, at the time I made my post I hadn't watched any videos of it, not even a trailer. Just looked at screenshots. Reaction to the trailer: Could look better.

Reaction to a first impressions video on Youtube: Yeah, changed my mind about possibly buying it.
