Can you link to an example? I'm not sure which game is being referenced in the name. I agree that the current image is pretty crudely drawn and would rather a nicer looking one.
"Did anybody invent this stuff on purpose?" - Phillip Marlowe on tequila, Finger Man by Raymond Chandler.Keep Until Better Image Suggested.
The actual side-by side box art comparisons can be found here.
Or something funnier.
Any of the images would work from that page, really. Definitely better than current.

"Did anybody invent this stuff on purpose?" - Phillip Marlowe on tequila, Finger Man by Raymond Chandler.I really like those. I like but I think it's too subtle, since it's only his eyes that are noticeable.
My personal preference:
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - Fighteer
That's just the art style. I think it's perfect and illustrates the trope very well.
I like lu's image even better than mine.
The art style makes the image less clear. No reason not to both improve on it and actually show people what the trope is describing, rather then an amateur attempt to parody the trope.
"Did anybody invent this stuff on purpose?" - Phillip Marlowe on tequila, Finger Man by Raymond Chandler.Either one is great; I lean toward the first just because the art isn't as busy and the eye and mouth changes should be perfectly obvious.
I prefer the first Kirby. It's simple yet effective.
Prefer fewer differences between the versions.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Y'know, on second thought the subtleties in the version I put up actually get the point across better. Lu's version shows a whole lot more different besides just Kirby, my version is exactly the same except Kirby just looks angry. That's really what makes it I think.
So in other words, yes.
"Did anybody invent this stuff on purpose?" - Phillip Marlowe on tequila, Finger Man by Raymond Chandler.Moving away from the trope namer, the example section has tons of options to choose from.
There's Spirit Tracks, which is a really clear example.
Milon's Secret Castle is also good
edit: one more

I like #5. It's a minimal change that makes it absolutely clear that it's the exact same game. But would we need to get permission to use it?
Calling someone a pedant is an automatic Insult Backfire. Real pedants will be flattered. You could just recreate it using the actual boxarts. It's not like IGN holds the rights to those - Nintendo does.

Moon◊Right. I'd ask if we need a crowner at this point, but all the suggested options are really good and I'm afraid we'd have a case of no one pic having a clear consensus.

The current picture is from the same source that named the trope. Artstyle is not a reason to replace an image (if it was, then there wouldn't be all those Order Of The Stick images). However, It is a good idea to try and show the trope through actual examples over parodies there-of. One suggestion that comes to mind is River City Ransom. I'll check into that later.
Some of us would rather see those Order Of The Stick images go away (like me), but it's too popular to kill. I think bad art (call it "art style" if you want, I see bad) is a perfectly valid reason, and in this case, I don't like it. The original box arts are far, far more clear.
A sufficiently large group of people deciding that another image is better is still a reason to replace an image.
So yeah, let's crowner this.
The thread has been open for less than a day; I think a crowner is premature.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Normally, this would be where I say "use image links" but since the page is already full of image links I'm going to say do nothing. The picture doesn't do anything to hinder a reader's understanding. "Crude drawing" is about as good as "I don't like it". Well, maybe I like it.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackI genuinely don't understand that attitude, there is no reason to be resistant to change. "I don't like it" is a perfectly good reason to prefer one image over another. Few reasons are better.
Starting a thread with "I don't like it" and not suggesting an improvement is kind of sketchy, but enh, here we are.
"The picture doesn't do anything to hinder a reader's understanding" is not an IP criterion unless we're talking about removing an image without replacing it with a different image. I bet a million spacebucks the current image would come in near-last on a crowner; why not improve it?

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Well I look at two images describing showing the same thing and think "same thing". I don't understand why you think any other given picture is "better". I don't see how the "crude" artwork is failing to make its point. It is not grotesque or hard to make out. I would be voting to keep the official Kirby game pictures maybe if they were there first but they weren't. I don't think all this effort should be focused on pages that are just fine. Discussions of samey images some people insist are totally better than other samey images.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackIsn't that sort of what this forum is for?
(Also adding pictures to imageless pages.)
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Yeah all these suggestions are merely different, not better. They aren't bringing anything new to the table. The current pic demonstrates the trope just fine.
Crown Description:
Nominations for replacement images:
That's a very crude drawing. Can we swap it for the actual box art please?
