There are actually over 3,200 Bible fanfictions in the Fanfiction.net.

Not exactly a fanfic, but you know the scene where Simon cuts Malchus (he was one of the chief priest's servants sent to arrest Jesus)' ear off? Well, when I read that part, I imagined it as Simon juggernauting his way through a dozen of mooks and goes for the throat of one of the chief priests and just cut his ear off. When he tries to finish the job, Jesus rebukes him and reattaches the ear.

Provided that you actually read the Bible, it does have an infinite amount of fanfiction material. Say, has anyone actually finished the book?

I got stuck in the Genesis part when it said that the children of men multiplied and then had daughters and then found out they were beautiful and took them for wives. Basically my problem with the Bible is that Bellisario's Maxim applies very strongly, and I can't turn my brain off, and strange implications keep popping up.

Bible-MLP crossover. You all know it's coming, just be prepared.
During one of the MSPA thread's numerous off-topic tangents, the question came up: if Jesus were a pony, what would his cutie mark be? I think there's already canon evidence for the correct answer.

I didn't write any of that.

The Jesus goes to high school fic on the High School AU page is actually pretty good. (Plus, Ebony Da'rkness Demntia Raven Way is Satan's Girlfriend!)

You have my admiration. Was it a regular one or one with commentaries?

I wonder if there is any fanfic focusing on the Seraphims.

So Neil Gaiman once wrote a bit of fanfic representing this passage of Judges.

''The first time I ever came close actually to sending a publisher to prison for something I had written was about 1986 or 1987, for Knockabout's Outrageous Tales From The Old Testament: I'd retold a story from the Book of Judges that contained a rape and murder, and this was held to have contravened a Swedish law depicting images of violence against women. The case was only won when the defense pointed out that the words were from the King James version of the bible, and that the images were a fair representation thereof...¡¡

That passage, and those that follow, are very grim.

The topic of fanfiction has been Serious Business for the Bible fandom throughout the centuries. The infamous – and depressingly literal – Flame Wars between the "Catholic" and "Protestant" communities in the 16th and 17th century started partly because of this: Protestants preached strict adherence to canon, whereas Catholics held on to their elaborate and highly codified Fanon.

(The Protestant movement originated within the Catholic community, but it was met with hostility; many of its adherents were permabanned. By the mid-16th century the Broken Base was a fact, and the Catholic mods held a convention where they reaffirmed Catholic fanon and condemned any deviation from it.)

I have to admit, fanfiction depicting that as a forum flamewar would be utterly hilarious, and you just proved it.

By the way, does any appearance of Jesus anywhere count as a crossover with The Bible?

[up] Not as such. Historical domain characters generally don't make something a crossover per-se unless you're using a particularly depiction showing up. Jesus showing up, not a crossover. Jesus showing up and mentioning that he spent some time sharing an apartment with Buddha in downtown Tokyo, then it's a crossover.

isn't the bible basically fanfiction of itself? It was already a compiled list of stories by different authors, each with their own take on certain stories. heck, in the first section you've got two different versions of Genesis back to back.

Adventures in the Bible

It's a thing.

This is profoundly disturbing.

The Bible doesn't strike me as a very kid-friendly place.

Oh, I think I had an even better idea: The bible as a Campaign Comic, where God is the GM (and Christ is his GMPC).

Why would the GMPC cry "WHY HAVE YOU ABANDONED ME" to the GM?

And how does the GMPC preacing to the NPC's that they should worship the GM make any sense, gameplay wise?

Nah, the Bible is canon. Actually, if I recall that correctly, that's what the word "canon" was invented for. Everything about the time that's not in the Bible, on the other hand, is considered fanfic, or on the same level as fanfic.

Bible and My Little Pony crossover? You mean, Jesus is born with an ox and little pony watching, and later on, rides on a little pony instead of a mule? Okay, that would be funny.

Actually, I would like to read fanfiction about the pope. I usually despise real person fics and Mpreg, but I would so read a fanfic where the pope is impregnated by aliens or such (but with a 100% human fetus), and gets into problems because of the anti-abortion laws he and his predecessors supported. That moral dilemma would be really interesting to read.

Or how about a fic about the many decisions God had to make during the whole "beginning of creation" thing?

God: "l'see, here: do I want the grass to be green? Or blue?"

[makes grass blue]

God: "Awesome."
