I remember when he died, hearing so much about how most of his life was dominated by a number of problems. It was really sad, especially when a few people in the business came out praising his great talent in his prime. Too many fine and understated singer-songwriters go the same way.
I borrowed one or two of his albums off my mother a while ago. Should do so again, it's good listening.

A friend of my dads as well way back in the day ("the day" being the 1960s when, as far as I can tell, things were better).
