Yep, gotta get the customers while the item is hot, or they'll just forget it and move on.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.Yeah, I'm not even really interested in the NES Mini and I still agree that Nintendo's being stupid here. You'd think these days they'd want to make a bunch of money up front.
It's especially laughable given that a Sega Genesis equivalent of this (production licensed out by Sega to a company called At Games) has been out for several years, and is still readily available. I mean, if you're going to do a nostalgia re-release of an older console like the NES, at least pay attention to how other companies handled it..
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)By releasing a product with a questionable selection of games (including several "original" works that aren't a patch on the classics included) with horrendous audio problems that anyone familiar with the titles in question can immediately notice?
Okay, okay, you meant in terms of distribution, obviously - but seriously, those AtGames Genesis "system on a chip"s are horrible, Christ

Moon◊This is why I never buy Nintendo hardware until at least a few months after launch day. I learned my lesson trying to buy a Wii back in the day.
And as Jim pointed out, Nintendo apparently had no problems whatsoever selling millions of units of the newest Pokemon game.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.Fucking Valve.
More like "Valve will be Valve". I gave up on them ever doing any sort of quality control and why should they? They make stupid amounts of money. They can afford to not care.

Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence. As if their steam support and constant milking of TF2 and CSGO updates weren't bad enough. Seriously, has Valve like entered borderline shit territory? Its like Ubisoft in 2015
This land is peaceful, its inhabitants kind.. ∩(·ω·)∩ WAIT, is this supposed to be the mistress herself?I am not sure what to even think about Valve anymore. They could say that Half-Life 3 would be canceled and people would still follow them to the ends of the earth because hat memes and a FPS game that everyone and their dog had played for the last 20 years.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.Don't forget Dota 2. Which they've actually been doing a very good job with.
I think the main problem is that they're abysmally doing their job as of 2016. Sure they distribute stuff, but what about their quality control? And please, lets not go through the fact that their "updates" on CSGO and TF are completely ruining valve's respect.
Want an idea of what I'm talking about? Glove Case Collection.
And there seems to be present bias on regarding updates between their 3 games. If one looks at each update of each of the 3, you will notice that DOTA's updates seems to be great, but on the other two, its absolute shit. Did you remember the super lazy Scream Fortress 2016? It seems even more lazy than Infinite Warfare if you ask me. And in CSGO's case? Hmm, let's see. Paid Sprays, Glove Cases, and a plain reskin of chickens in their Halloween update.
Seriously, I feel like Valve really went into shit this time.

This land is peaceful, its inhabitants kind.. ∩(·ω·)∩ WAIT, is this supposed to be the mistress herself? The fact that they don't want to directly intervene with things until it's too out of hand (such as Digi Hom suing Steam users) makes me groan at Valve too. They really don't want to be involved with anything, do they?
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.Stuff like TF 2 hasn't seen a proper update in years either. Valve has been doing "community updates" where they rely on players to make the maps and assets and then Valve just does the packaging.
Isn't the last TF 2 update they did the one adding competitive to try to stand up to Overwatch and it was really badly received?
You were kinda late on that. The most recent is the super lazy ass Scream Fortress 2016.
See, I wish Jim would make a video about how to update games correctly. I've rarely seen games where updates are usually well received, aside from PAYDAY's removal of microtransactions.

This land is peaceful, its inhabitants kind.. ∩(·ω·)∩ WAIT, is this supposed to be the mistress herself?I don't play TF 2, so I wouldn't know.
Community updates....that reminds me waaaay back in 2011? Or 2012? Anyway, Left 4 Dead 2 was pretty much "done" in terms of content updates, but Valve decided to promote this custom campaign a player made and incorporated it into the game itself. I found the map designs bland and the difficulty bullshit myself. Regardless, Valve could have done a weekly promotion thing like "Everyone, check out this dude's maps", but they just went the one and done route and went back giving Meme Hats 2 more attention.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.Until they did the same thing to TF, but this time, focus more on DOTA.
Now I can't see Valve being good at maintaining there games anymore at this rate.

The thing about the NES Mini is even if it were decently-stocked it'd be a nightmare to find, given its pre-Black Friday pre-last minute Christmas release date and how it has a broader appeal than just "people with Nintendo consoles."
To push and promote something so much on social media and the like, and then only ship single digits per store, is just... ah, well it's frustrating.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaI'm not even sure if this'll bolster desirability like it did for amiibo, in that case it worked because the target demographic for things like the Ike amiibo was "angry(?) nerds." Here, I can't help but think making it so rare will kill interest with the more casual consumer by the time it's restocked. To say nothing of little Jimmy moving on when he doesn't get an NES on Christmas.
