Oh boy, where to begin with this guy...

First, "the 1968 zombie scare" isn't a thing that happened, or at least, didn't involve any actual zombies. An important point to the back story of the whole RP is that none of the monsters have appeared anywhere for hundreds of years before the apocalypse, which is why pretty much everyone believed they weren't real before it started.

Now if you want your guy to be delusional and think there was a zombie outbreak in 1968, that's one thing. But in reality it would've never happened.

Next is a slight note on his equipment; as has been mentioned for other people signing up, taking two primary (two-handed) weapons is allowed, but not all that practical in the middle of combat. Just so you know.

Last is the money. $225.25 is a lot to start with. I would like to see that either lowered or better justified.

Here I go!

  • Name: Langston Richards
  • Gender: Male
  • Age:32
  • Appearance: He's muscular outside of a rather large belly, and has dark black skin. He wears a dusty white suit with a red tie and pinstripes under a red cloak.
  • Personality: Although he's larger fan of profit than anything else, he generally prefers to be positive force in peoples lives, remaining almost perpetually friendly and cheerful when things go his way, and acting that way whenever shit hits the fan. He's also not scared to boast about his skills to anyone who'll give him the time.
  • Backstory: Langston was born to a family of exhibition shooters, who practice, in the face of a supernatural apocalypse, became MUCH more profitable. Their skill with a gun earned them a quite the name thought the U.S, and they maintain that name by having each member of the family periodically go out and do what they do best. It's Langston's turn.
  • Equipment: A pair of black Smith & Wesson model 29's with a dark wooden grips, and golden aiming reticles. An M-14 rifle. A bowie knife. He also carries a backpack that contains; a rechargeable flashlight, a canteen, a first aid kit, four pyrite stones, and five bottles of extra-strength tylenol. He carries his .44 magnum ammunition in six moon-clips attached to his belt, three on each side. the five magazines for his M-14 strapped onto his backpack.
  • Cash: 45.00
  • Skills: Langston has thus far made a fine living on nigh-impossibly quick and accurate shooting, like his family before him. His draw is nothing to sneeze at either. He also has to be one of the dirtiest fighters in what's left of the western hemisphere, never content to let brute strength win his battles where gun or wit fails.

Well, the outfit is a bit nice and eccentric for someone in an apocalypse. Not impossible, just weird, so I guess that's okay. The revolvers are likewise.

Don't know what he plans to do with fool's gold, but there's no real reason he can't have that.

The only thing I'm really gonna have to clarify on is his skill with firearms. He can certainly be really, really good, but he can't literally be "impossibly" good.

So long as that's understood, Langston Richards gets the Official Seal of GM Approval for Entry.(TM)

Be sure to check out the first post in discussion for extra info that your character would have the chance to know already. And we'll have to work out how your guy will get in before you can just jump in.

[up] He has, by apocalypse standards, a higher (though not particularly high) class background, and the revolvers are family heirlooms. Pyrite creates a spark that can be used to make a fire.

What were the opportunities our characters had for dropping in?

Finished re-re-editing. Took out the 'zombie scare' ordeal. Keeping crossbow and M1 Garand. Both have straps to attach to his shoulders and back. $36.50 in his wallet.

@TLGW: Looks good now. A little odd that he'd start a family at the age of 47+, (Assuming my math is right and that "8 3 year tours" isn't a typo.) but still somewhat believable.

I assumed the two handed weapons would have shoulder straps; what I meant was that switching from one to the other quickly is hard to do. Unless you just drop the one in your hands first, but even then it still takes a few seconds.

Anyway, so long as we're both clear on that, then (presumably former) Captain Jerry MkNight gets the Offical Seal of GM Approval for Entry.(TM)

Be sure to check out the first post in the discussion thread and the links for newcomers contained there.

@Kino: I'll get to that in discussion.
