[up][up][up][up][up]Those are anime sales in Japan. The anime sales in the US are in the gutter.

[up]It's hard to believe that you don't actively want them to go down if you would say "good riddance" to a business that went bankrupt.

Ever 9, try being a bit less childish about this. FU Nimation is a legal distributor. They do put their own subs up at only a slightly slower rate than fansubs for series they licensed. If you don't want to support the industry, fine, but stop acting as if their existence is a hindrance to you and serves no meaningful purpose to others.

At present, FU Nimation is by far the most stable anime distributor in North America. Not minding seeing them dead them dead is like not caring if the entire industry in North America is dead.

My opinion is that the anime distributor was granted rights by the original producer of the anime to release and market the anime here. Therefore it is their product. Furthermore Anime producers make money by licensing their I Ps to distributed overseas; is a liscensor goes under the original distributor loses a source of revenue. Having domestic anime liscensors not only benefits NA Anime fans, but also makes the entire anime medium stronger as a whole.

[up][up][up][up] My point exactly. the Japanese anime production industry is "The Industry" that every anime fan can be expected to be invested in. The US anime dubbing industry is a side-project for the benefit of some of the fans who are into that sort of thing.

[up][up][up] I have nothing against simulcasted sub streamings, sometimes I am even watching them, and plan to completely shift to them as they are becoming a more significant part of the industry, but that's not the issue at hand, but their TV channel, that is a lot more closely tied to their dubbing business.

[up]...I think you entirely missed the gist of my argument. I'm certain the Anime industry would love to make inroads with the Media-Hungry Americans. I mean, that's pretty much what the Japanese gaming industry is doing right now.

Point is, a strong American anime industry can only mean more products get produced.

All this aside though, I don't really think some premium cable repackaging of their stuff going under matters much at all.

[up] That would be an interesting situation, but as I said, even while it was successful, the american licensing industry entirely relied on picking up already proven series, and the goal was just to fund the publishing of their own version.

A world where the american anime industry brings backs significant profits to Japan, is so far removed from the one that we live in, and from any result that it ever acchieved, that it has no relevance to practical matters of specific actual distributors.

[up]I think its something worth striving for. Besides, the Anime I like to watch are the ones that heavily involve Western elements, like Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, et cetera, so I would like to see more fusionist stuff in that vein.

[up][up]Just because the American anime industry may not bring in large profits to be relevant does not mean that it's not crucial.
