b43 is out!
Give me cute or give me...something?It contains WYRMIC BUFFS!
The best class is getting better! :D
One of my few regrets about being born female is the inability to grow a handlebar mustache. -Landstander...I really wish Doomed would get some more skill tree actually...the current one has too few class tree (and Fear is useless)
Give me cute or give me...something?I've been on a rogue kick lately, actually. It turns out they're really good, especially once you figure out how stealth actually works.
And I've never played doomed. Are they any fun? They're basically a magic version of Cursed, right?

One of my few regrets about being born female is the inability to grow a handlebar mustache. -Landstander^ About Doomed: Yep! They're fun! Though as I said, there's very few useful class tree for it (Fear is practically useless so the main 4 is practically mandatory)
Give me cute or give me...something?Eh, I hate it when stuff like that happens.
Although for the most part I feel they've done a good job with the classes. A lot of them just feel really solid.
Though I'm a little iffy on Shadowblade. They seem waaaaay too frail.
One of my few regrets about being born female is the inability to grow a handlebar mustache. -LandstanderMajor changes: Point zero, chronomancer starting town Stonewardens, with twin shields Bugfixes Solipsist nerfs no more teleport immune items All default races can now have red hair Auto explore is much nicer
Also, I managed my first winner, a cornac solipsist.

Now I'm wondering if you can tell Zemekkys in Gates of Morning about his older self or not...
Give me cute or give me...something?So how is this game? More importantly how does the combat handle?
Who watches the watchmen? You have much more options in combat than your typical roguelikes due to your talents, also the game focus nearly purely on combat (not much in terms of long-term resource management unlike other roguelikes), so it depends on if you like that or not...personally I like it very much, and the combat's darn awesome (I get bored with normal roguelike's bump-attack now because TOME (and to lesser extent Dredmor) spoiled me with combat options)
Give me cute or give me...something?If you play normal roguelikes, the game doesn't function like them terribly much. There are no cursed items, no hunger management, no potions or scrolls.
Instead, the combat is very much based around your skills and your skillbuild. Each skill has a cooldown and usually uses up a resource from the various resource bars (stamina, equilibrium, mana, etc.)
In my opinion the combat feels a little more strategic than in your average roguelike seeing as how you have to plan out your attacks instead of just the normal bump to attack.
One of my few regrets about being born female is the inability to grow a handlebar mustache. -LandstanderNo content changes, just bugfixes. Notable bugfixes inclue:
Knockback is no longer draw in
Glimmerstones no longer keep you dazed for annoying lengths of time
Fearscape ends at 0 vim
Also, linux64 support appeared in RC 1.
Edit: Saves are compatible with RC 1

Oh FINALLY fearscape is fixed!
Give me cute or give me...something?So my thread didn't work out and now I see this... am I allowed to bring this one back? Kind of nice to see there was a To ME thread at some point, I must say.
Yes you can bring it back. The only real rule for thread necros is that it should be brought back with relevant posts, information, questions, or other related info and not just a "Gee whiz" kind of post. Even then it is not a very hard line rule usually it is played by ear especially for game threads which can go quiet for long periods of time.
Who watches the watchmen?Or don't bring back to continue flame war...
Anyone here ever played Stone Warden?
Give me cute or give me...something?Can't say that I have.
I was meaning to ask how detailed is the combat in To ME 4? As it stands I hold the level of details in combat to a certain level like in dwarf fortress.
Who watches the watchmen?Different. It's pretty complex mechanically? But, you know, that's in terms of diversity of skills, buffs, debuffs etc. Not 'how badly damaged is this man's spleen?'
Also, I've played Stone Warden, but I've yet to give it a fair shake. Maybe once I finish this run with a... staff-wielding sun paladin. Yes.
It's not Dwarf Fortress level (NOTHING will be DF level), but as far as roguelike combat goes, TOME has it much more deeper than any other due to the fact that EVERYONE has ability to do something...instead of, you know, fighter walk in and whack things till it die...(everyone can use items, so sorry, that doesn't mean that it makes melee class "complex")...game focus heavily on resource and cooldown management on your character tho, which is different from normal roguelikes where it's heavily on consumable management...
It's actually funny because to me this actually means that unlike most other roguelikes it's actually easier to play mages than fighters, due to the fact that since the classes are all complex in its own way, mages end up being easier due to the fact that they need to worry about less things.
Also, good to see you in non-Touhou thread muffin...

Give me cute or give me...something?Thanks! Also, yeah, everyone is slightly fiddly and often amazing. The classes let you do crazy stuff few RP Gs can come close to. Say, Paradox Mage. You can split the timeline in three, play in each one for a couple turns, and then continue in the one you like best. You know, just as one example.
Item use is admittedly something of a second fiddle? Nethack it is not. You get actives on a couple pieces of equipment, basically, plus inscriptions (abilities you give yourself through items, such as regen/debuff cleansing/teleport/speedup/shield/stuff no one takes). To ME doesn't really do consumables.
Oh, and yes, fighters are pretty intricate as well, especially in the later game. Well, unless you're a Rampage-spec Cursed, in which case you mostly bump into people while being a death metal version of the Flash.
So I just tried to play as a Shalore.
Fuck those living crystals in the Scintillating Caves.
…it doesn't help that I'm absolutely terrible at roguelikes >_>

Recommendation is to stay the hell away from that dungeon until later...especially if you're not ranged attacker...
Give me cute or give me...something?Well...after 4 and a half years of playing this game (on and off), I BEAT IT! (my char)
Weird tho, I feel the final boss isn't as hard as the freaking Bone Golem Temporal Warden I found 2-3 floors before...that guy was way harder.
Also: the reworked Temporal Warden is WAY cool! (I hate the class pre-revamp)
