Frictional now has an In Development section that for the moment only reads Unannounced - Info coming soon while linking to the above website, and contains this◊ blurry screencap. Apparently it's also upside down.
Ooooooh... O_O
I can't wait to see this. Amnesia is one of the most (If not the most) successfully scary games I have ever played. Penumbra is also pretty good, although I think Amnesia is better.
Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.Should be interesting, although I liked Penumbra more than Amnesia.
Now, is this supposed to be a new Amnesia or a new series? Either way, can't wait.
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984I think it might be a new Amnesia. IIRC, there are orbs in other places in the world, so there might be one in China. That'd be interesting.
Something is emerging, indeed. The picture on the teaser site has gotten much clearer, and if you click on it now, it will lead you to a Google Map of a small island called Boreray...
Is it just me, or does anyone else see a silhouette in the picture too?
I thought it was a big-ass light-bulb at first, tbqh, but there's definitely a corridor of some sort with a silhouette of something in the back of it. Speculation suggests a pig carcass◊.
I haven't looked myself, but some say they've spotted and deciphered a code in the site's css file:
THE EVIL MAY HIDE THE GREATER EVIL. BUT THE EVIL ALSO HIDES THE GREATER GOOD.
Whatever it turns out to be, here's hoping that Mangaminx will Let's Play it.

Come on Amnesia sequel. I want my Daniel / Justine fight dammit!
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. So the full picture is up, aaand... it's a human meat processing plant. Welp.
And now it takes you to 506 2nd Ave of Seattle. The address is even specific enough to get StreetView, but beyond shambling cosmic horrors, what to look for, I don't know.

I wonder what the connection is between all the places.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. So, apparently:
Second link was to Boreray, the island from Dear Esther(developed by the chinese room) is based on.
Third links to the Smith Tower in Seattle, famous for a room on the 35th floor called "The Chinese Room"
and from Chineserooms website:
"gameB is the codename for a top secret game we’re working on that will be due out in Q4 2012. All we can tell you is that it’s a survival horror and we have a fantastic development team working hard right now. More information will be released in the new year. The concept art is by Ben Andrews"
but the forums have gone into full-on ARG Epileptic Tree mode, so i's very hard to make out anything... Summation of the madness.

I'm confused as to whether Frictional is collaborating with thechineseroom, or are they a clue to something else.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. So, summation time. *cracks knuckles*
From the original site the ARG players found a console, in which by various means they found a readme file, where they got another code like the one before:
THIS WORLD IS A MACHINE. A MACHINE FOR PIGS. FIT ONLY FOR THE SLAUGHTERING OF PIGS.
...and four packages of data, with such lovely names as anthrax, ecoli, ebola and malaria, from which after much ado they got this◊ picture, riddled with letters...
...and the most plausible combination of those actually contains a release window :
Fair to say that a metric fuckton of misanthropy is on the menu here. The password for the last package (Anthrax) turned out to be those phrases combined, by the way:
Que "Why didn't we see this before!!".
A timer eventually appeared on the console that finishes some time later today, either to shut down the site or to reveal more info. Got the players into quite a tizzy, if anything. Considering the "pig" theme, the subject of sacrifing actual pigs for info was brought up. Jokingly, of course. I think...
Here's a wiki with all the info wrestled from the console.
So... Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs coming Fall 2012?

"A Machine For Pigs" would be an awesome album title.
Swordsman Troper — Reclaiming The Blade — WatchGave me total Nine Inch Nails vibes.
Apparently Frictional released the very first trailer for Amnesia at this very date two years ago, that timer could very well be counting down to a similar event.
Oh boy, I can't wait to get my bag of Milky Way bars and cry out of terror again.
EIGHT GLORIOUS SIDESI'm not a big fan of these kinds of games, but... Jesus H Christ, do these companies know how to generate hype.
I really, really hope they can deliver on this. The whole thing's great.
Come sail your ships around me, and burn your bridges down. For sure
Holy crap. Just... wow. I'm very much looking forward to this now.
So the countdown was a bit anti-climactic. The console basically just altered itself to state what the ARG-team had already gathered (Pigs, Fall 2012), though it did provide further evidence that the Dear Esther guys are involved somehow (two email-addresses, one starting with FG, Frictional Games, and the other with TCR, thechineseroom), and the two◊ pieces◊ of artwork we've already seen, but free of text and clutter.
...and then, when asked about the whole thing, one of the Frictional guys provided another scrambled word (yrsileaalmdpsee) like the ones the team had been chewing through like Skittles the last few days. Still feeling let down by the results of the whole ARG-thing, they eagerly started descrambling, some minor panic erupted when they saw that the solution could be "mispelled year", i. e. the release date could be much farther off than first anticipated. Then the sender dropped the solution. They were not amused.
In other news, another Unannounced project has appeared on their in development page, so FG now have two upcoming titles. I don't know how big a team they are, but double projects would give credence to the whole Chinese Room-outsourcing theory. And The Chinese Room might give a comment on the whole situation later this week.

And it's official!
Speaking exclusively with Joystiq, Frictional Games and Dear Esther's thechineseroom have revealed their latest project, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs.
Developed by thechineseroom and produced by Frictional Games, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is planned for a debut on PC later this year. No firm date has been set, but internally the two studios hope to launch before Halloween. A recent alternate reality game has been teasing the the next Amnesia's reveal, sending fans into a frenzy.
"It's not a direct sequel, in terms of it doesn't follow on from the story of Amnesia. It doesn't involve the same characters," Dear Esther writer Dan Pinchbeck told me. Instead, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs will be set in the same "alternate history and set in the same universe." In short, the game will look to scare your pants off.
Set in 1899, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs follows the "wealthy industrialist" Oswald Mandus, who has returned home from "a disastrous expedition to Mexico, which has ended in tragedy." Struck by a destructive fever, Mandus is haunted by dreams of a dark machine until he mysteriously regains consciousness. Months have passed, unbeknownst to the industry tycoon, and as he emerges from his slumber the roaring engine of a mysterious machine sputters to life.
A detailed interview with Frictional Games designer Thomas Grip and thechineseroom's Dan Pinchbeck is coming later today, delving deeper into the darkness with Amnesia's next chapter. And yes, the two discuss what A Machine for Pigs means.
^ A commentary... on a commentary? And wow, those guys were... rather douchey.
Did that OMGAMNESIAWTF-thing get taken down? It had like 2 million plus views last time I checked.

What a gruesome title. I hope they don't move into splatter territory.
Great game company though. It's good to see people rewarded for going good work.

Something is Emerging apparently... and clicking on the image leads you to a Google Maps of China. WMG time.
And like Escapist says, "Given how far forward the studio moved from Penumbra to Amnesia, I have serious concerns that its next game will end up killing people."
