That could be a lot of things, without context.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I think that they're both examples of the trope, but they're a bit busy (of course, that's probably a given with the trope in question).
Would you agree that's a legitimate criticism? I'm still somewhat new to Image Pickin', so I may be off the mark.
Locking you up on radar since '09I'd agree with that. The first one isn't terrible, but I can't imagine it will look good once it's shrunken down to the right size.
Well on the first image, it looks like blaster bolts shooting out in a radius from the gun tower in the background (although that might not be clear to everyone).
The second just shows the screen filled with pink dots, with no real context of where they are coming from. That could be a puzzle game, or a fancy cut scene, or a spell effect.
I just tested it out, and somehow, it looks better when shrunk to 350. Go figure.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I could go for the OP pic.
Well we are currently having a lot of issues with the trope itself as this is Death coming in from all directions to one target... Not death going in all directions from one person (think Death blossom from The Last Star Fighter)
The image shows the latter.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Okay, then that trope absolutely needs a new name (and I voted that up on the crowner). And if we split, then I propose this image for that trope.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I'll start pirating The Last Starfighter.
Fight smart, not fair.Except that is not this trope. This trope is the opposite of that.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!So this is death coming at you from all directions. That other trope is death spreading out in all directions.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Yes except that other trope does not currently exist I dont think.
(the best example I can think of of this would be Gundam funnels when they spread out and attack one target from various directions... trying to find a pic of it now.)

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!I mean for when it does.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Well, we're splitting the trope right? I'll just drop the image in the TRS thread for use.
Fight smart, not fair.As for illustrating this trope, then, how about something like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsYpasHUVc8&t=58 (the FFIX Alexander vs. Bahamut cutscene)
Bump. (Still need image.)
Clock is set.
Clock's up; locking for inactivity/lack of consensus. No action is to be taken based on this thread.
This should show the trope nicely◊ (I know it's under trope repair, so I made sure this fits the definition). It's from the Cave shooter Progear.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.
