Hm, isn't this part of that standard setup for a specific time period. I can't help thinking it's on its way to becoming a stock setting.
Also, you can't use unicode for links, use RanmaOneHalf to get Ranma One Half.
Fight smart, not fair.Overall I think it's pretty cool, though Isanami can be a little... overbearing. "Saizo! Saizo! Saizo!" I think I can understand why Saizo is a little irritated.
Still, while I have no problem with Yukimura, why is it a little more norm to make the Tokugawa a clan of bastards? Gee, I wonder if we can have a series in which the roles are flipped, the Tokugawa being 100% heroes and the opposers being villains.
Man, that's why I like the treatment of Ieyasu in Sengoku Basara.
Japanese historiography kind of hates the Tokugawa. Mind, Ieyasu was a bit of a bastard (albeit arguably of the Magnificient variety.
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntIeyasu didn't exactly unify Japan by being a swell, charismatic dude people were happy to follow. Just look at the alternate attendance system (bleeding daimyo dry and implicitly holding their families hostage).
And everyone was happy with Hideyoshi and Mitsunari? they're not squeaky clean good guys and must always be the Tragic Hero...
And heck, by Sekigahara alone, Ieyasu is like the underdog, he was vastly outnumbered by Mitsunari. An aversion of rooting for the underdog?

Hideyoshi isn't exactly looked upon favourably either. (just look at Hyouge Mono)
None of the three unifiers seem to get good press: Nobunaga is a crazy butcher (and quite often seemingly possessed by a demon) Hideyoshi a boorish jumped-up peasant, and Ieasyu a scheeming dishonorable backstabber.
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntSasuke just cracks me up what with his animals and everythig.
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntSo I just noticed the writer of this is a Yaoi Fangirl.
Suddenly, the depictions of the female characters make a horrible amount of sense.
What's precedent ever done for us?Um, what?
Yeah, I never noticed the girls being particularly masculine if that's what you mean, and if not... Well, I haven't heard of Yaoi working that way.
It's still more like Hakuouki though (which is based on a shoujo game).
I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over. One thing I realize is that aside of Isanami, every other girls (from Ana to Oukatsu to Kaio) had some scowl that made them look similar with a man's face. The only thing that would make us realize that they're girls are their huge boobs.
Still, next week... this anime will end.
Is there ANY info of the cast aside of the Braves, Yukimura, Masamune and Hanzo? Because the Anime News Network guys are getting lazy and not adding the likes of Ieyasu, Mitsunari, Kanetsugu, Kojuurou, Oukatsu, Kuchiba, Kaio and Byakugun....
Here.
I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over.It helps if you know that yaoi fangirls are amongst the most aggressively misogynistic fans out there.
Isanami, for instance, does not strike me as a female lead written by someone who likes women all that much.
What's precedent ever done for us?F**kin' hell first half of ep 11 is a fujoshi's dream episode. I needed to skip from the 3 min. mark straight to the 12 min. mark.
I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over. They only had Mitsunari and Kanetsugu on that list, the rest remained somehow unknown. Why...?
Sorry double post, but the anime just ended. What do you think, guys?
Haven't caught up yet I'm afraid.
If you can tell me the ending is decent I'll be more likely to finish it soon.
Brave 10
I couldn't find a thread for this.
Which seems to be a shame because even though I'm only up to episode 2, I quite like it.
It's Japanese historical-flavoured fantasy (but slightly more grounded than Inu Yasha). At least I think so.
I've never watched Naruto (well, beyond episode one anyway), so I may just make this my introduction to anime ninjas (unless you count [[{{Ranma½}} Sasuke]] - I suggest you don't).
The annoying hanger-one girl and the jerk with a heart of gold ninja she's hanging around dynamic is interesting too. Mostly how it doesn't feel clichéd to me for some reason.
Still I definitely feel this is worth a watch.
Anyone else have thoughts on what's aired so far?
