I don't like the Pat P picture much, it doesn't convey the "overly elaborate" part to me and really isn't any better at illustrating the trope than the Venture Brothers pic. But, it seems I'm in the minority, so I'll go along with it.

Okay, this is way past time to call, but we still don't have a clear majority on the leader. Stuff the Image Links page and call it good?
As of writing, Pit and the Pendulum is at 8, leading the Pony image by 7 votes (the latter being at 1). This isn't a clear win?

The ratio's less than 2:1, and while that level's not as important in IP as it is in TRS, I'm still not completely comfortable running with it. The crowner for Evil vs. Evil's thread is at the same point even though the leader's the only one in the green.

That, and it's about a week past time to call this one, so let's do so while one's got a consensus. The new pic is up, potholed to Edgar Allan Poe, and tagged, and the others are on the Image Links page. Caption or no?
Don't mind me some Poe, but a page image with nothing more than an italicized title in examples makes the Wiki Walker in me sad. Can we get it a proper description?

I put up a perfunctory description of the trap...couldn't remember the exact circumstances or the reason he's there to begin with. How's "'The nick of time', taken way too far."
It's set during the Spanish Inquisition, story doesn't mention why the narrator is on trial or what he is sentenced to death for.

Just for the record, that's actually promotional art for one of the movies based on the story,
which changed almost everything about the plot. I can't really remember why he got put in the trap in the movie. Just for kicks, maybe.
